Match Thread Swansea City - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 19th Aug

My guess is we will start with a defensive midfield setup and bring Sakamoto on during the second half when they are tiring.

    Robins dilemma

It's all about competition for places, and quality in depth. Rather than players being unhappy on the bench they need to compete and earn a place in the team and perform well when called upon. Most players realise this. You're a new member so may not know this  but last season we were...

    Robins dilemma

I don't really understand getting hung-up on the starting line up. If a player with fresh legs comes on and makes a meaningful contribution, surely that's all that matters. With the amount of substitutes teams can make now, we need players from the bench that can change the game.

how many did he have? I gave up after counting 10

    First 5 games

Probably a bit optimistic, but I can see 7 from those 3. 10 points from 5 games would be brilliant considering 4 of those teams were highly tipped pre-season.

    Hamer

It's all guesswork. Around 2 weeks ago the figure was widely quoted as £20000 he wanted. Now it's rumoured we met his demand but it was too late, doesn't sound like he wanted to stay that badly.

Will take some of the presure off Simms as well. I think the expectation as Vik's replacement has got to Simms.

Who needs Hamer when we have ….

    That's a good start

This is what Gus said back in January according to Cov Live. They were published as direct quotes. “I am really happy and I look forward to sign a new deal but I am not looking too far yet. I will end the season first and see what’s going on" When I first read that I thought there was a hidden...

    Hamer

Sad as it is to see Gus go, I think it's extremely good business if the figures are correct. £35M for him and Vik (at least). A number of people insisted we would be lucky to get £10M to £12M for both considering their contract lengths.

Match Thread ⚽️ Leicester City vs Coventry City Match Thread - Sunday 6th Aug

I haven't had a chance to read all the posts, but I wouldn't have made 3 changes in one go when we were well on top. It broke our rhythm and gave leicester the encouragement to attack us while the 3 substitutes were bedding into the team. I would have just liked to see Wright for Godden as the...

    Transfer Rumour Haji Wright

Yes, he was a proven goalscorer in the second teir (the old first division before the Championship). The equivalent league we played in when we signed him. He Scored 31 goals in 1998/99 and was the top scorer in all 4 divisions I believe.

    Transfer Rumour Haji Wright

He was a good finisher prior to joining us, scored 1 in 2 for WBA over 3+ seasons. He went off the rails a bit after joining us.

    Where will We finish

The supercomputer predicted 3rd, and they are always wrong, so I'm going for 2nd

Not really sure what this tells us but it seems similar standard to the Championship? https://www.globalfootballrankings.com/compare?first=EnglishLeagueChampionship&second=TurkishTurkcellSuperLig

    Hamer

You can't really say what a footballer is worth, other than comparing what other similar players have sold for. A club can say a price they are willing to sell the player for, and a club or clubs can say what they are willing to pay. Vik's (notional) value is still being shown as 13m Euros on...
