Not sure about the top end of the league. But if we score more we should be fine - right?

An ifollow match for me, as usual. First thing: some terrific football and overall a good performance. We played really well, quite a lot. Plenty of chances created. The first half was excellent. Hiwula was really lively and Enobakhare looked in control in the midfield. Plymouth or Shrewsbury...

How we miss someone like this

There's a school of thought that the small percentage of great stuff that leads to goals is all you can ask for from a tricky winger. Almost no one beats his man 7 or 8 times out of 10. Messi, maybe. Plus, couldn't you say about almost any outfield player that apart from the good things they...

    Player ratings

Yeah, these aren't far off. I'd give Burge one more though (6) and Bayliss one more (7), plus perhaps a 6.5 for Kelly. He was relatively enterprising. Bright was all right and so he can have a 5 from me. Not clear to me yet what he'll offer us though. Chaplin largely anonymous.

    Today's performance

In the first half, kicking towards their few dozen fans. It was a sort of low scissor kick that Roche parried from what looked like two yards away.

    Today's performance

JCH had a point-blank shot stopped by a blinding save though

    Rank this season's shockers

Yes we were limited and often outplayed but fought hard against a physical side and debatably deserved the point *what penalty?*
  8. LilleSkyBlue

    Today's performance

Yeah, had forgotten about the shock of having an unnecessarily rebuilt side foisted on us in that roiling heat against Scunthorpe

    Today's performance

I struggle to believe the off-field worries really affect the players. If they're any good they'll just go somewhere else, as about 10-12 of them will probably do anyway most summers. No, I put our slump down to two factors: a season-long problem - lack of good strikers; and a circumstantial...

    Ratings v Luton

Burge - 6 oh I dunno Grimmer - 6 better then recently Willis - 6 all right Davies - 6 all right Brown - 6.5 fine Thomas - 7 good though not as much as recently Kelly - 6 all right Bayliss - 5 only seems to be showing his faults at the moment...

Match Thread Coventry City vs. Luton Town Match Thread - Saturday 15th Dec

Completely outclassed from beginning to end. Luton are the best opposition I've seen (since ifollow started, anyway). We haven't looked like scoring all season and still don't. I say the strikers just aren't good enough, others prefer to blame the supply lines, but the result is the same and...

    Our Finishing

Mild mannered though I am, the signings of Bakayoko and Hiwula caused me to curse Robins and bang my head on the wall. Neither had ever really shown any signs of being a consistent goalscorer and neither looks like being one yet with us either. I'm not sure I fancy seeing Hiwula given a proper...

Cheers ( I think). Maybe should knock a point of Shipley on the old player ratings after all.

    Player Ratings

Burge - would have been 7 before the rash rush. Amazing save just before it and some excellent catching from crosses. Sterling 6 - lucky to get away with what looked like an obvious foul in the area Willis 7 - fine Davies 8 - commanding Brown 7 - always looks like the weak link to me but he...

Match Thread Walsall vs. Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 8th Dec

Watched this on ifollow. We thoroughly outplayed them in the first half and deserved the lead. We'd silenced their fans and looked basically in control, even though Cook had a chance and they were far from the worse opposition I've seen this season. That accolade goes to Blackpool or Bradford, I...

Match Thread Fleetwood Town vs. Coventry City Match Thread - Tuesday 27th Nov

Just been watching the highlights, reminding me of something I'd wondered at the time. What was Davies doing for their second? Running awkwardly away from Burns as he drove forwards down the inside-right channel instead of trying to close him down, then slowing down as the shot came in...

    Ratings for Tonight

Really enjoyable first half which we shaded. Poor second half, though the scoreline flattered a workmanlike Fleetwood side. They took their chances. My ratings probably seem high but we shouldn't forget the first half. Still gutted by the game though which left a very sour taste. Burge 7 - some...

Match Thread Burton Albion vs. Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 17th Nov

The first half was tolerable but we weren't in it anymore during the second. We never seemed to have the ball. Clearances, interceptions and dinks kept going to their men and whenever we did string a few passes together it was given away cheaply. Our best outfield player was Bayliss overall...
