I think any material investment will be in players of an age where they can improve and be sold on again. However that doesn’t apply to every transfer. Brighton spend big money on young talent but then add the likes of Milner, Wellbeck, Lallana …. I think we are trying to emulate that model

We don’t need to be hypothetical though because he has recovered. he could therefore sign a 1 yr deal extension ensuring we get some value for him but also ensuring he gets a good move too. that’s not nonsense that’s an option that is open to him and his agent.
