Supporters' group tells Coventry City FC owners to clarify stadium plans

If the club did relocate it wouldn't mean there would be less prosperity in Coventry, economic activity will simply be relocated from one locality to another. Businesses close to the new location would benefit from a relocation, just as businesses near the Ricoh did when the club moved from...

Supporters' group tells Coventry City FC owners to clarify stadium plans

I have no inside information, so this is just a cynical opinion... If press reports in 2005 were accurate, the original term for the naming rights on the stadium should have already expired. That a new deal hasn't been announced suggests there is some kind of problem. How crucial is the...

Supporters' group tells Coventry City FC owners to clarify stadium plans

I hope your comment is tongue in cheek as to most reasonable people the city boundary is invisible and largely meaningless. In my dad's case, he supported a club that played at Highfield Road and he had many memories that were linked to the ground. He didn't want the club to move to a new...

Supporters' group tells Coventry City FC owners to clarify stadium plans

There are also similar stories for when the club moved from Highfield Road to the Ricoh Arena. I know several people who stopped attending when the club moved across the city, including my late father attended (after several decades of dedicated support the last game he attended was the one...

    Your CCFC Memorabilia

I've got the coat / hat stand from the manager's office at Highfield Road and (bizarrely) one of the small fridges that used to be in the Executive boxes there. Damn that auction in 2005!

    Memories From '87

I went to the final with my dad (who is no longer with us) and we were also held up by the jokers putting something on the railway line. We missed the teams coming out and 'Abide with me', but got to our seats just in time for the kick-off. I wonder if anyone else remembers Andy Blair being...

    CCFC in schools

On the subject of 'CCFC in the Community', earlier this week I noticed all the adults involved in after school football at my daughter's primary school have started wearing Nike CCFC red polo shirts and black shorts. As the adults all have matching sportswear I am supposing they have been given...

And people think our club is bad...

Apparently it is a 'special' badge to celebrate the 140th anniversary of the club. Ah, the 140th anniversary, the traditionally celebrated milestone...

And people think our club is bad...

Just came across a story on Yahoo regarding Birmingham City - it seems the word 'Birmingham' isn't spelt correctly on their replica kit... and people say we have it bad... :D...

    City 1971-72

Yes, the Coventry Telegraph has gone from having an impressive collection of buildings on the corner of Corporation Street to having a much smaller office at the canal basin. I am pretty sure the newspaper isn't printed here any more as well.

    City 1971-72

As another poster has already mentioned, the Herbert has an archive. The Local Studies Centre at the Herbert has all Coventry Evening Telegraph editions from the early 1970s on micofiche. I'm not sure if any of the press cuttings included photographs. The quality of microfiche photographs is...

Back to Court on Wednesday 8th July 2015

Local Government Officers and elected officials guilty of misconduct that cost the local authority money could formerly be surcharged (financially charged) personally.

It has quite a large portfolio of property - but much of this will be covered by various covernents that will severely restrict value. I think you are right, if there is a successful claim and a damages award is made the council will be struggling to pay it. It is the Council Taxpayers of...

I'm not convinced the council will have insurance to cover any claim against it if SISU's action is successful. I wonder which of our assets the council will have to sell off...

    57-2 ?

I would be disappointed if it is true. I would hope a match involving young kids a would have been stopped prematurely if the was such a mismatch. I actually played in such a match (rugby) when I was a kid - the game was stopped and the coaches mixed the teams up to produce more balanced sides.

If they can't get land for 10,000 jobs then they won't get it for a stadium.

I used to live in Brighton and know that numerous sites were proposed and rejected before Falmer was even considered. After Falmer was identified as a potential site for a football stadium a referendum was held to allow the the residents of Brighton and Hove the chance to say if they wanted...

They put themselves forward for election in the knowledge that if successful they will be paid 'allowances', which is a bit different to 'volunteering' isn't it?

Councillors aren't 'volunteers', they get paid 'allowances' by Coventry City Council. The council have to publish details of the 'allowances' Councillors are paid - details for the Tax Year 2013-14 can be found here...
