No I'd have him either side of a holding player. But I do expect him to come back and defend more than a wide forward would. I think you are seriously overestimating how narrow wide players will play. They will still be used to stretch the pitch like emc and saka did on Saturday at times

I only want Allen in a midfield position. Doesn't have space or trickery to give us much in attack wether tucked in it out wide
