To be fair Verstappen didn't 'wipe out an 11 second lead' - the SC did. By the time actual racing restarted he was literally right next to him.

Yes it was a gamble, but they looked at the damaged car and debris, then at the number of cars Verstappen would have to overtake if racing was restarted or the time it would take for all the lapped cars to unlap themselves. In the end at the last minute they decided to let just the first five...

At which point max wouldn't have pitted. The issue is no-one is sure that whether in that scenario the cars would have been told to overtake and the SC pulled in. They literally changed their minds on a whim and pretty much gifted it to Verstappen.

So rather than being close enough to draw the foul they'll stay a step back so he can't. Are you saying this season there haven't been teams deliberately setting out to foul him, even to the point of taking it in turns to do it to not get yellow cards?

Indeed. Not a big fan of his but he did that with decorum. Not max's fault that decision was made. Can't imagine Max would have been so gracious if the decision hadn't altered.

But they then changed their mind and pulled the safety car in immediately. If they make the decision do it properly.

But ALL the lapped cars are supposed to overtake before the SC comes in. That didn't happen

Once the decision to let lapped cars overtake is made should all the cars have to overtake before the SC pulls in? What has been a fascinating season has been ruined by a joke of a decision.

Teams put together tactics involving fouling people, thus giving the opposition an opportunity from the set play. They decide the set play is less dangerous than letting the player play. I'm not saying they'll just let him waltz through and have a shot, just they'll be less frightened to let...

If he'd have crashed max would have won.

Can't bleive they changed their minds on the overtaking and then immediately pulled the safety car in. Last lap fight out was a way to end it but that last minute change of decision was odd. Do people still think the stewards work for hamilton?

If they didn't there would be no racing at all and Verstappen loses. I don't think he'll be able to get it done in that single lap but at least he might have a chance. let the cars through he has no chance at all.

Depends on if those tyres suddenly drop off. Hamilton is an expert at preserving tyres and maintain pace, but we'll have to see.

Personally I wouldn't have brought Hamilton in so quickly after max for the first stop. With the VSC I'd have probably pitted to, but as I said before you can make an argument either way. Reckon it will be very close at the end, and with the Championship this year that's the way it should be.
