EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

It could throw up some issues if any players have expiring contracts and have signed pre-contracts to rival / same division clubs. Then there are issues with loans expiring. It’s a mess.

    Birmingham don’t want us

Well if A is Ricoh, B is St. Andrews then C is somewhere nearby that at least meets FL Champ ground criteria. Would be a travesty if we were refused entry due to ground grading / lack of ground. It’s a thread done to death but I think Hinckley and Nuneaton technically do (or are not far off)...

    Birmingham don’t want us

Isn’t the real question “will Birmingham STILL want us” playing at St Andrews should we make the Championship? Taking pity on a neighbour who has fallen on hard times is one thing, supporting the rebuilding of a rival another. (As an aside, the CCFC marketing team should be targeting schools in...

German start next week thrown into Doubt

Yep, like a military camp on tour duty. No one going home at night or immediate family members having to stay in the football “camp” until games completed. It can be done, but not easily.

    Bundesliga going ahead

I guess we should support Dresden or Kiel (otherwise what is the point of twin cities?). Just seen a new released BBC report of virus acceleration again in Germany. just saying.

    Difficulty with EPL restart

3rd Brighton player tests positive. I get the “in the past Middlesbrough...flu”, just like any other injury; but when you get entire squads having to self isolate it goes back to my OP: It’ll be difficult to see a Premier League restart, let alone EFL

    Can we compete

SISU might think it time to sell up. Champ clubs with potential are the ones which tend to get bought up, L1/2 not so much. I think the Government will be looking to support infrastructure / construction projects to get the economy moving again and building a new stadium becomes a little...

    Difficulty with EPL restart

I’ve been putting my legal hat on and thinking through what might prevent the EFL from restarting. I think it’s a given that all players and refs etc will need to be tested prior to restart or even training. It’s quite likely that some positive results may come up and, those players will...

    Is it Unthinkable

You watch, the only safe place to play for a few months will be China. I can see many clubs shipping players off there on loan to get match practice for a bit

    SkyBluesExtra podcasts

The one theme is how much all of the players preferred HR to the Ricoh (due to the shape and atmosphere) I genuinely think that, post the Covid crisis (with construction, finance, and labour costs cheaper and the desire for “getting the economy going” higher impacting planning decisions) the...

If that’s the game that they won 6-1 at HR then it was a player called Ronny Rosenthal that totally tore us apart.

    3 players from yesteryear

Realist choices (ie those that would have joined a 3rd tier club at that point of their career, say aged 25 for the sake of argument - Dublin, Huckerby, Speedie etc. would not). Ignoring career injuries Arphexad in goal Billing, Réda J, Willis, Tony Dobson - defence Dean Emerson, Claus...

Sky Blue youth superstars who never made it...

I used to watch McGuire in the reserves and he was simply brilliant. I remember one match against Liverpool reserves containing the likes of Steve Nicol, MacNanaman (sp?), Jan Molby, and others (Liverpool reserved at the time could have played most first division teams off the park) and him...
