    Match Thread Bristol City (H) - 6th November 3PM

What on Earth? Why go with 2 up front with no one to cross in?

Playing with one striker is fine so long as you’ve attacking midfielders who can run in and finish. That there is the onion.

He needs to go on loan somewhere to get some games. It’s as simple as that. He last played regularly at L2. Playing at the top of the Champ is different soup and he should be nowhere near the pitch until he’s shown that he’s ready. He showed he had talent at L2/L1 but then again so did Shipley...

I remember that incident now and totally agree. It turned an attacking play into a defensive one. I recall last year when we were struggling and losing even though we played well, I thought that we lacked the answers to the “dark arts” that other teams have. The time wasting, yard stealing...

It’s days like this that we need a (5 year ago) Michael Doyle type character. Someone to get in the refs ear about O’Hare being fouled all the time. Someone to create a bit of mischief. I thought Kelly would step to that but doesn’t seem to have the “gobby” side to him. It was awful how Swansea...

Swansea weren’t excellent. They took a risk with that line and a slightly quicker no 10 would have caused major problems. Even someone who knew how to bend their runs. A McNulty type maybe. They shithoused the second half and we needed to get amongst them.

Moore 6 Weak wrist for first goal. We were losing and he could have sped things up. Distribution ok. Dabo 6 First 10 mins didn’t know where he was. Dithered for first goal (iirc) got better but wasn’t quick enough again in getting his crosses over. Fadz 6 Shocking first 20. Gets a point for...

    Transfer Rumour Billy Gilmour

Above comment Is there something cryptic I’ve missed? Bright spending his money in Canary Wharf, an island in the river Thames?

This is where we can spend Bright’s wage budget allocation. All good.

He doesn’t give the ball away stupid. I’ve seen a stat where he is the joint 31st best passer of the ball in a SSW direction from his left toe when playing away from home in a red shirt. That means you are wrong. I win. Ner ner ner. So there. (satire above by the way). It’s something that...

Fair enough. I’ll reflect on that. Any folk on here who like stats have any figures on the number of pens and such per minute that Godden wins? Any comparison stat v Waghorn / Walker? I’m interested is all. Thought Walker unlucky to be dropped after bagging 2 in 2 but stats like that (Godden...

There are a few that I think could develop between now and then to be so. Vik, Gus, Cal, Fanky some of the loanees may. Moore possibly. My point is clear: Sheaf will not progress to where he no doubt wants to get to without sorting out that side of his game.

That’s interesting. Any stat-gimps on here have the number of free kicks in dangerous areas / penalties won per minute that Godden has throughout his career?

100% agree. It’s a tricky thing pointing out any of Sheaf’s errors on this forum. There are one or two on here that will immediately pounce and point out some stat or other and say you’re “clueless” or that you aren’t astute enough to see that he has many invisible talents. It’s a form of...

    Bright and Robins

I’d 100% agree if it were any other player & manager combination. Some managers believe they can get the best out of certain players. Robins grew up watching how Ferguson worked and (I’m reaching here, I know) might have thought that he could get the best out of Bright as he had (in some ways)...

    Bright and Robins

I think the general consensus is that it was a punt that could have been a master-stroke. No one was to know at the time whether or not Bright was going to get his head down and become a valuable asset. There are those that like saying “told you so” but in reality no one had a clue, not even...

Farke out………Robins in, What are the chances.

Robins? Canaries? It’s for the birds.
  20. The Philosopher

    Walker

I agree that Walker has good finishing skills but his hold up play and pressing is not the best by any stretch. We are more likely to lose the ball and as a result concede by having a player that can’t keep it very well. To be fair to Godden and Wag they do nip at defenders a bit more but this...
