Match Thread Preston vs. Coventry City - Match Thread - Sat 19th Oct

I have been pessimistic about our chances on Saturday, which is hardly surprising given our terrible record against PNE. For reasons I can't explain, I woke up this morning feeling quite optimistic and I think we will win. I can't see us keeping a clean sheet or scoring a bagful of goals, so...

    Yes, we faded badly. 😆

That was a very good pass from Wright. Let’s hope he can start putting a few more in more us, though we will need Simms, BTA or Bassett to start scoring from them.

    England - Lee Carsley Era

Lots of attacking/creative midfielders but not a single specialist striker in the starting lineup and a lack of proper defenders. It's just weird.

    England - Lee Carsley Era

On a positive note it seems that the Sky Blues are at the same level as the England team 👍 Oh dear.

I’m not convinced he is ready to start yet but I do think he is a very promising youngster and I hope he gets plenty of minutes from the bench.

    Spent £10m on L1 players

No, it wasn’t. It was nice to see a more positive post for once 👍 I needed it as some of the overdone gloom and doom on here was getting me down.

    Robins has to go…

The latest betting odds, after our defeat on Saturday, have us finishing 9th which is two places lower than at the start of the season. I reckon this is about right. If it turns out this way it is a little disappointing but hardly disastrous.

True but it was nowhere approaching the current scale with £zillions being injected by oil-rich states.

I’m sorry to see how his career has taken a downwards turn. I always thought League 1 was about his level.

The end of fair competition in football at the highest level: I have been opposed to the creation of a European super league but I’m now starting to think it might be a good idea. Let the super-wealthy clubs, usually owned by oil-rich states and overseas investment funds, have their own...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I have been in the same position as you before. I think it’s because, after losing a fair amount, the body goes into starvation mode and adapts to the ingestion of fewer calories. I have a theory - for which I’m not aware of any scientific basis - that, after losing two or three stones, it...

Sakamoto was an excellent player up until his serious injury last season. It looks as if he hasn’t recovered mentally from that. I don’t know if he will ever get his confidence back but I sincerely hope that he does. His latest setback won’t have helped. It will be a crying shame if he never...

It's so crazy... It just might work!?

It could be worth a try if the reason for his disinterest is that he thinks he should be playing CF. I don’t think he should feel that though because his performances and goal stats improved considerably when MR moved him to the left. I have had another thought. There seems be a growing...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

The Sue Gray fiasco just about cements this government’s place in history as having made the most shambolic start by a new government ever. Oh well, as someone once said “Things can only get better”. I’m not optimistic though, at least while Starmer is in charge. As we all suspected, he is a...

    Robins has to go…

Clearly our results have been poor but MR has consistently been a great manager over the years that he has been with us. I refuse to believe that he has suddenly become a bad manager overnight. If we release him the chances are that his replacement will either be a rookie, which could work but...
