A Grimsby fan has said there was a rumour of a large Coventry hooligan contingent ever since this fixture was announced. I haven't heard anything. Has anyone else? Surely this can't be the reason for no pay on the gate.
I don't know what they were thinking. It's as if they thought that we don't have the brain cells to go in the home end instead, therefore causing more trouble if we score and some celebrate.
To be fair what are they going to do? Ask you to name a minimum of 6 Grimsby town players to let you in? Considering the shambles they've caused so far I don't think they'd be capable of sniffing out the Cov fans.
Use the old excuse to a steward of "my wife bought tickets for my birthday in the home end even though I'm a cov fan, any chance you could let me in the away end?" That's worked many a time for me and @Adge
Probably that they didn't have enough officers to cope with the amount turning up on the day. But then why give us an allocation that you can't accommodate?
