    Transfer Rumour Chris Willock

Robins will have a plan to fit in the players he’s targeting. Having a winger play in our ‘box’ formation isn’t exactly a massive change. Allen, COH and Palmer all have to operate in wide areas and MR has played our more attacking WBs in the box too. The difference between 3-4-3 and 3-4-2-1 is...

    Transfer Rumour Chris Willock

Using Godden as leverage to secure a deal for a player like Willock is really shrewd business. I still can’t see us dropping the 3-4-2-1 / 3-4-3 it’s a shape that allows us to play with AMs/wingers.
  3. Mucca Mad Boys

    Transfer Rumour Jerry Yates

Yates was scoring goals in a struggling Championship team and Vente scored a few goals in the Dutch 2nd division? I wouldn’t want to rely on Vente at this stage to be our main striker if/when Simms gets injured. We’ve done really well to keep Gyokeres fit and playing as much games as he has.
  4. Mucca Mad Boys

    Gyokeres

Where has the sell-on been quoted? I’ve not seen anything outside of SBT. £20.5m and 35% of any profit would be pretty damn impressive.
  5. Mucca Mad Boys

    Gyokeres

The valuation was not impacted by Sporting’s sales, the point there was that we were negotiating a price we knew the potential buyer could afford. If we had an extra year on Gyokeres’ contract we could’ve priced teams out of move if we wanted too - which obviously wasn’t an option. From...
  6. Mucca Mad Boys

    Gyokeres

I don’t think we were ever asking for an unreasonable fee especially given how they’d sold a player themselves for £40-50m. Personally, I think a Prem team may have been willing to pay slightly more later on in the window. Which would be a higher risk strategy and it seems like we were...

    Transfer Rumour Dylan Vente

We sold Chaplin to a team in a higher division and made a profit. He didn’t reach the same heights with us as he did with Ipswich, but the signing can hardly be considered a failure.
  8. Mucca Mad Boys

    Transfer Rumour Dylan Vente

No team has 4 star strikers in their team for obvious reasons. One thing that gets lost on a lot of people on here is the intended use of players. Were the likes of Biamou and Bakayoko supposed to be key players when we signed them? No, both were players signed to be developed. Even so, they...
  9. Mucca Mad Boys

    Transfer Rumour Dylan Vente

Not at all. He’s managed McGoldrick, Leon Clarke, McNulty, Godden and Vik. With the exception of Wilson, he’s managed our best performing strikers post-premiership. Chaplin was sold for a profit despite not really living up to expectation. We’ve only really messed up buying Waghorn and not...

Transfer Rumour Godden off to Derby?

Elliot Simms at an initial £3.5m is a better deal for me - he’s the better player with more growth potential!
  11. Mucca Mad Boys

    Transfer Rumour Billy Sharp

If we can get a good fee for Godden, I’d take it because he’s in the last year of his contract and his injury record has been mixed last few season. Likewise, we’re changing the way we play and from the games I’ve seen, it’s clear Godden doesn’t really fit in with our play style any more.
  12. Mucca Mad Boys

    Transfer Rumour Billy Sharp

If we were to sign Sharp, the difference between this signing and say, Waghorn or a De Zeeuew/Kilbane is that Sharp isn’t being brought in to start games. He’s an experienced pro who can add leadership qualities and has proven his durability. A great mentor for Simms. I don’t think it’s a...
  13. Mucca Mad Boys

    Transfer Rumour Morgan Whittaker

Both those signings came out of nowhere really. Generally, we get our business done quickly under Robins. In his second spell I only recall the Connor Chaplin saga dragging out for an amount of time.
  14. Mucca Mad Boys

    SIGNED!!!! - Tatsuhiro Sakamoto

I was pretty disengaged with supporting us at this stage because I was at Uni and we were shit… Looking back, it’s satisfying that we’re that club that’s on the way up after going through the dark ages.
  15. Mucca Mad Boys

    SIGNED!!!! - Tatsuhiro Sakamoto

You can, I believe we did it with Denzel Slager/another Dutch striker Pressley took on trial way back when. The telegraph article suggests we’re confirming the signing today after the paperwork is complete. A team wouldn’t let us take one of their prized assets on a trial before a sale. One...
  16. Mucca Mad Boys

    SIGNED!!!! - Tatsuhiro Sakamoto

Absolutely. I’d have reservations about his defensive capabilities being 5”7, but there was a clip of him being quite dogged in defence which is a sign he could be useful as a WB. If he’s left footed that would suggest he could play either side for us so that extra versatility will be valuable...
  17. Mucca Mad Boys

    SIGNED!!!! - Tatsuhiro Sakamoto

Versatile players are fashionable atm and Robins has deployed out WBs in the box formation as well as WB. For example, Wilson-Esbrand, Maatsen and perhaps even Giles too all played on the left. A trickier, more attacking minded WB could add a dimension to our playing style we currently don’t have.
  18. Mucca Mad Boys

    Transfer Rumour Billy Sharp

Billy Sharp as an option of the bench on a one year deal would be something I can get onboard with. I do think Godden will end up leaving this window and we’ll likely need a ‘stopgap’ player. The experience with Kelly, McFadz and even Godden shows just how important leadership is to a team.
  19. Mucca Mad Boys

    Transfer Rumour Dylan Vente

It's worth mentioning that Brighton picked up Gyokeres from the Swedish second division. There's plenty of good players across the leagues that can be developed. Hoping this guy is a diamond in the rough, as things stand I'd expect he'd be a substitute option.
  20. Mucca Mad Boys

Its time we had a Doug appreciation thread

There’s a lot of wacky conspiracy theories about Doug’s intentions of buying the club. Which I find bizarre because we’re a club with potential and always have been. He’s pretty much done everything he’s said he would so people just need to relax and judge the guy on his record.
