Match Thread Norwich City - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 4th Jan

I think the full backs have been told to be inside the wide players and not overlap. Makes sense as both Bidwell and MVE aren't as good at crossing as say EMC, Rudoni and Sakamoto. MVE mentioned it in a previous interview. The issue isn't that Sakamoto is not positioned correctly. It's that the...

Match Thread Norwich City - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 4th Jan

City Head Coach Frank Lampard looked back at the busy festive period, ahead of his side travelling to Carrow Road this weekend. The Sky Blues are unbeaten in their last three outings, a run they will look to extend this weekend against Norwich City Ahead of the clash, Lampard spoke about the...

Anybody else just want it to be May?

He will. In fact I dont expect him to be back playing until the Bristol match at the earliest.

Anybody else just want it to be May?

The outlook maybe more palatable when Wright and EMC are back. Plus hopefully some interesting additions during the window. If anything the remained of this season will give us clear views on who we want around the squad going into next season. At the moment, not too many of them! Let's not...

    Robins to Stoke ?

I skipped to a random point: "I honestly have nothing but good thoughts, good feelings and good experiences from Coventry City. Loved the place, loved the people." 😬 But, but, but, but......

    Just think

Yeah I think that's the general idea of it. I'm by no means any xG guru, not even close. But many on here hold it in high regard so I took a look into our data. The bottom line is, we should be scoring more, conceeding less and in turn have many more points on the board. However, that said...

Yes I think so. Another interesting xG comparison by games/opponents. Only Burnley (A) & Portsmouth (A) have out xG'd us in the last 8 matches: We are the dark blue bars, opponents the light blue:

Just doing a bit of xG digging. Under Lampard, we have the 2nd highest net xG in the Championship, 2nd only to Leeds. (Caveat, not including yesterdays game, but get a feeling the stats would further "improve") Season 24/25 before Lampard: xG per game: 1.38 xGA per game: 1.06 Net xG per...

Whilst we know we haven't got the defence or midfield to turn in visually good performances week on week, we haven't got the right forward to win us games yet either. It's a hugely important role and I think we should be looking to improve that area, if the budget allows.

    Just think

If Rudoni's shot vs Millwall goes over the line and BTA scores his sitter we sit 12th on 33 points, 4 wins from 5 and 7 points off the play offs. Yes, it would mask how we are actually playing but that replicates up and down the championship. You stick your chances away and everything feels...

    the issues

It not all about full backs "bombing up and down". That's too basic a comment and is disingenuous towards what we are actually seeing. Bidwell in particular has started taking up inside forward positions which allows the winger still to be wide, whilst providing support and additional bodies...
