    Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

You say that but one of the (very few) things we’ve done in this mess that I’m proud of was fund the development of a vaccine and ensure the producer (AZ) would deliver initial X billion doses at not for profit, not just for us but for the wider world. How many other countries have done that ...

100% agree but they still have no idea of real life impact of natural immunity, vaccines and boosters on severe illness/hospitalisation.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

From investigations a year ago ?! I’m not defending what happened, it’s pretty indefensible but I just think theres better use of resources especially in current climate. Do I think police would've entered workplaces and fined/arrested people for after work gatherings/Xmas quizzes last year ...

    All purpose cricket thread

I really like Buttler and thought he’d finally got to grips with test cricket over the past year or so but he’s not looking good...the drops were poor (albeit one very good catch) and I’m wondering if his minds on the job as he’s had a kid recently and was one of the players they thought might...

Birmingham, where I live, is even worse

Maybe the people of London should be looking at themselves and their willingness to get vaccinated/booster, same as some other big cities.

Agree, if there are people being prosecuted for similar things. I’ve never agreed with the level of action/penalties anyway though.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

At this stage I’m past the point of caring. They’ve had the negative political impact which is well deserved but do we really want people (and potentially police) wasting their time, cost and everyone’s focus on this unless there had been some big old rave (rather than team gatherings after work)

Crazy decision. I’m not sure all of these are what I’d call ‘parties’ though

If you’re only going to be with immediate family anyway no probs I guess. If you were going to be around high risk relatives maybe worth a test before seeing them

Not sure that it would if it’s just a cold but by all accounts many omicron symptoms are cold like, so maybe get a pcr anyway...but be prepared to have Xmas plans fucked if you do (don’t blame me !!!)

I think it will be a mess everywhere in terms of case numbers sick boy. If Omicron is as transmissible as it appears then only stricter measures will have an effect. Sorry if I keep repeating myself but it’s hospitalisations/Covid inpatients that’s got to be the focus now

Unfortunately I don’t know if we will find out the data to support that view as there’s a real lack of transparency. All we want to know is if you have been double jabbed, had a booster jab or had Covid recently and healthy, are you safe ?! It’s a simple question and needs answering. Instead we...

Just a quick cautionary tale for those seeing higher risk relatives this xmas. I’m triple jabbed and already had covid (July) but took a pcr after getting pinged earlier in the week (mate who Id seen tested positive). I’ve could’ve just done daily LFs but had been to a hospital consultancy appt...

Probably another week or so before we know if patients and more importantly Covid inpatients are increasing rapidly due to Omicron. Agree about anecdotal evidence, hearing the same but then again all are vaccinated

Deserved result for the Tories, after the arrogance shown by Paterson and then subsequently Johnson, in particular in relation to Paterson.

This is true over the country as a whole but it is frightening in some locations still which Id imagine will end up being higher areas of transmission and hospitalisations (albeit maybe the ‘younger’ cities might get away with more severe illness). Checked Birmingham yesterday and was shocked...

Agree with this. Most people know how to self regulate, depending on their personal circumstances, especially after 18 months. People will point to the formal lockdowns having the effect but data has shown that the public had already started to reduce contacts, see people outside etc when...

    25% of EFL

Updated my original post. It should’ve read 41% not fully vaccinated (which would tie in with 59% confirmed as double jabbed). I’d cut and paste mates text earlier
