Not surprised by any of this. Archer/Root partnership was a false dawn followed up by a poor bowling/fielding performance. And again some brain dead batting. Issue is also there's no-one to bring in to replace the weak elements and they're not going to change the captain mid-series.

Not a lot of surprises there. England fielding poor yet again. How the coaches/analysts can't messages to the bowlers about length etc is a mystery - although the captain and the bowlers themselves should be picking up on that especially having batted first

Plan was obviously for Archer to have a swing and probably get out after he got a quick 10 or so. But Australia's poor field positioning and Archer not getting out changed the intentions. Stokes was stood up to call them in then they took 35 off those 2 overs and he sat back down (right call )...

It's about 50ish runs versus having to face 4/5 overs.

Australia messing about has actually backfired. That's a huge lastwicket partnership. Obvious (and smart) conclusion is show Starc more respect and capitalise on the rest.

This partnership actually redeeming the innings (not the individual scores)

That's seems to be becoming almost a consistent theme for England's overseas Tests. If not ducks it's top order batsmen not making double figures

Stokes opened up the extended tail completely unnecessaryily.

Think everyone apart from Stokes/McCullum thinks this. Punish bad balls, don't manufacture against good balls. Make sure positivity isn't accompanied with poor technique.

That's a great 100 at any time coming in at 5 for 2 in a side that just is batting well. Buries the nonsense about it being a blemish on his status as an all-time great.

Yet Stokes/McCullum seem determined for him to be next captain.

Said it last week ECB sold their souls to keep the Hundred. Basically handed control of English cricket to overseas business people. BCCI already largely controls international cricket through finances now people affiliated with it controls the rest.

    Absolutely unnecessary wicket.

So confirmed what we all suspected. ECB basically hands control of England players over to the Hundred franchises for a large chunk of the summer. Sold their soul.

Trump is my favourite comedian of the year already

Whilst his son solicited billions for the family business from middle east gocts during his father's negotiations on Gaza. Coincidence that the family business is property and witkoff's peace plan involves 100s of billions of dollars worth of construction funds in postwar Ukraine ( Which Trump...

so playing a warm-up friendly on a slow, low pitch wasn't great preparation for the first Test. England's solution to preparing forthe 2nd Test against the most successful pink ball side is not to use the opportunity to send players to play a pink ball game. Arrogance just looks more like...
