    The Run In

What were your realistic expectations? We’ve spent more money this season than probably the last 20 put together. Let that sink in for a second. It just isn’t realistic to expect to replace 17 players and improve your position in one season. That just the playing staff, we’ve not even started...

    The Run In

EMC is officially our player now and the payment being deferred as a gesture of goodwill doesn’t change that. We agreed a deal to sign EMC in the Jan window but P’boro pulled out of that. So it is fair to say MR was supported in the window - he secured two long term targets.

    The Run In

I absolutely can. We needed a CM, we go and sign Torp. We needed a winger, we pursued MR’s top target and failed on deadline day because P’boro couldn’t secure their targets. The sums exchanged is £6-7m, when have we ever spent that in January?! It’s one less signing we need to make in the...

    The Run In

It’s well known now that we agreed a deal to sign EMC in the window but Peterborough pulled the plug. There isn’t really anything DK or Robins could’ve done as we’d pursued the player for the whole window. You said Robins wasn’t supported, he was.

    The Run In

We spent £7m in January… As for COH, it’ll be loss but he’s not irreplaceable - we survived better players leaving.

    Transfer targets

That’s bang on in my view. 3 strikers is probably enough for the season if we’re playing 1 up front and we’ve got 3 wingers too. Is Bidwell expected to stay? He’s linked with a move every window and he has 1 year remaining. Are we looking to add any loans to supplement the signings outlined?

    4-4-2 next season

It’ll be a quite a narrow 4-4-2 assuming the front 4 is Saka, EMC, Wright and Simms. The only reservation I have is that one of Simms or Wright would need to function slightly deeper to bridge the gap between the midfield. The priority will be an AM imo.

    4-4-2 next season

Viveash did mention we could play a 4-4-2 with the personnel we have. More likely to be a Plan B rather than a Plan A though. It will be good to able to use a 4-4-2 if we’re chasing games, for example.

Our best player? 😂 I’m sure we’ll be fending off plenty of suitors in the summer for him then.

    The Run In

Simms and Wright have a lot about them, agreed. We need to get more balls into the box for Simms, he’s really proven his value as a goal scorer in recent games. On the McFadz point, he’d be valuable had we stuck with 3-4-1-2 but in a back 4, I don’t think he’d suit that at all.

Match Thread Coventry City - Cardiff City Match Thread - Monday 1st Apr

He was solid as always, but I disagree he’s been ‘excellent’ in any of our recent games. This isn’t an insult by any stretch… Hamer was excellent, Sheaf last week was excellent. No one was excellent today, we lost to a pretty poor team today. I’m tired of hearing about how good our midfield...

    The Run In

Last year we had Gyokeres and Hamer who were 2 of the best players in the league. Our team this year is more rounded and the quality is spread across the pitch. There isn’t the same ‘X Factor’ of Vik and Hamer and stubbornness of defence to grind out results and drag us up the table. Yet, we’re...

    Transfer targets

That’s a start but games like today, Norwich, PNE and WBA we lacked something in midfield. My hope is that Torp adapts to English football and flourishes next season and Eccles adds layers to his game too. If we want to be a strong playoff team pushing automatics, we need someone as close to...

    The Run In

I had a similar thought. Watch us lose to Cardiff and get a win against Leeds - typical.

    Callum O'Hare

Agreed. We still miss someone with Hamer’s ability to put the ball into space and today there were plenty of opportunities to be more direct to Simms, Wright and even Tavares - we opted for safer passes consistently. We got caught out down the left hand side a lot today. I don’t think that was...

    Callum O'Hare

Agreed on being unable to break organised sides down. I’ve been consistent on this point all season, but we struggle to play through midfield at times. Sheaf was guilty of some poor passing today but at least he went for it. My frustration is that we often dawdle on the balls without causing...

    Callum O'Hare

He played well against Huddersfield and Wolves so one disappointing performance doesn’t mean we should drop him. As for COH, did he do much change the game? He also misplaced passes and got tackled on the ball.

    Callum O'Hare

It’s a difficult game whether or not COH starts or not. He hasn’t done much to earn a start to be honest.
  19. Mucca Mad Boys

    Callum O'Hare

Agreed - COH has lost his place because he isn’t impacting games like he was in Dec-Jan. Even then, a few of my mates who are neutrals said the same thing: if he isn’t scoring, he generally isn’t playing that well. As for Palmer, overplayed a lot today and as good as he can be, he’s probably...

    Milan van Ewijk Appreciation Thread

He’s one of, if not, our best player. His contributions are underrated at times.
