We were probably fattening him up at the Ryton canteen with dripping on toast and faggot batches. #cunningplan

    cricket 2025

What a great day of cricket! England should get a modest first innings lead of, say, 30-40. We need to bat better in the second innings and win this test: we can't afford to let the opportunity slip, as I'm sure Australia will come back hard at us in the second test by when they should have a...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

All almost as bad as each other really but I think Starmer edges it.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I really cannot see that Starmer has any solid political beliefs or political skills. He bends with the wind depending upon who it is that he is trying to please. He was left wing when he wanted a position in Corbyn's shadow cabinet, maintained that stance when seeking election as party leader...

The Scotch Mist Vs The Danes

Me too. He was capped at U 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 but never seems to have had a sniff of selection for the senior team. Denmark are not the team they once were and I reckon Torp is good enough to deserve a place on the bench. Would give the midfield a bit more of an attacking threat, which is...

The Scotch Mist Vs The Danes

Yes, the line is part of the penalty area. It was close but for me it was a penalty.

Exactly 👍 I think more support for Cinven would have helped a lot.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I agree that successive governments haven't given enough help to the former mining areas but I'm glad that Thatcher closed the coal industry down. It was born out of the industrial revolution and its time was coming to an end anyway. It was insanely cruel to send men underground to contract and...

If you were offered second now ...

Second would be fabulous. First would be a little bit of icing on the cake but no more than that.

    Benjamin Bloom

I agree. He is, at worst, par for the course for the Championship and on his day really rather decent.

Yes we would need another keeper but there seems to be an expectation that we would have to pay north of £10 million for Rushworth. I think we could get a decent reserve keeper for a lot less than that and spend the saving on other positions. I agree that, in an ideal world, we would like...

I don’t disagree about Rushworth being a bit better but I don’t think there is much in it and I expect Dovin, being younger, to continue developing. I still think we can spend the money better elsewhere, which was really my point.

I can’t see Dovin being happy on the bench, especially as reserve goalkeepers rarely play. If Dovin comes back from injury as the player he was before then I’m happy with him as our first choice. I think the money could be better spent on strengthening other positions.

The run of 7 to christmas

Always important to look at the gaps. Only 15 games in and we are already 24 points clear of The Blades in the final relegation place. Our goal difference is 42 better than theirs! 😆

If he does miss a game or two we might play Haji on the left and Simms in the middle, with BTA continuing at 10. I'd be happy with that.
