Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I’m just saying they obviously do give a fuck. Do I think what they’re doing is enough, currently no, do I think they’ve picked the right mechanisms for assistance, also no. Having a leadership battle in the middle of this mess is also not great but let’s be honest, plenty of people wanted it...

We can argue whether it’s enough and the mechanisms but they obviously do. Sure I read Sunaks previous assistance commitments will cost 30-40bn.

Some of the companies are racking it in but I’m guessing not from retail customers, many others have gone bust. It’s for the government/ofgem to work out a fair mechanism (so the energy companies share some of the pain). The type of assistance we are taking about ie potentially tens of billions...

I’m guessing there is a legal obligation under the lease but we don’t know some of the finer details like have we met all of our obligations under the lease, could/should we have moved initial fixtures (I know Boddys story on this) etc So I suppose what I was saying is, I don’t know if can we...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

The problem would be in six months if things haven’t improved. The best solution I’ve heard was proposed by one of the energy company execs last week. Basically freezing cap for two years, give energy companies access to government funding/support to cover funding gap between wholesale cost and...

Great quote from a Labour front bencher ‘They’ve been kicking seven shades of shit out of each other all summer but it’s still all about them. Keir is not cutting though. He could run naked down Whitehall yelling out new policies and Liza Truss’s hat would get more attention’ My monies on Rayner 😂

They would probably have to weigh up the pros and cons of sorting the pitch. Pro’s keep tenant, rental income and activity around stadium. Cons - cost. Next question will be how would they pay for it as they will have limited income As has been mentioned before, ultimately this all comes down...

Exactly. He’s still relatively young and has obviously got ability. Needs to cut out needless yellows…which he showed he can do at the end of last season and be a bit more consistent. He always tries to be positive/brave in possession which is what better teams will like. Sometimes maybe tries...

These are his beliefs though. Probably a bit stereotypical but the further left you go, the more anti west or at least sympathetic to Russias position many (not all before there’s a meltdown) appear. I guess he’s probably similar to Corbyn in that respect, like his wider view of the EU/Brexit...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I cant really argue with that although it’s impossible to tell what services would be like under government ownership. my point in an earlier post is if the right controls and regulations were put in place some of the issues we see now wouldn’t/shouldnt have happened

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Hard to disagree if you’re talking about the retail energy companies, most/a lot of which has gone bust recently as there’s not much profit in it with the cap in place and wholesale prices as they are Ultimately though most are just the middle men, taking a tiny slice. You’d need to own the...

Or party leader for that matter To be fair, it wasn’t a major issue/focus at the time anyway, probably wasn’t even up to a year ago. Unfortunately over the past year energy security has come into focus Privatisation alone isn’t necessarily as bad as it sometimes appears. When companies are...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Agreed. I wasn’t a massive fan of Brown when he was in office but would take him over anyone in parliament at the moment, especially at a time of crisis. He’s a serious politician that ultimately has the country’s best interests at heart, even if people don’t necessarily agree with all his...

I was talking about extremists blocking exploration and progression of potential solutions. I understand everyone’s got views on what’s good or bad, sometimes I think we need to just consider the least worst options

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Exactly, it’s all swings and roundabouts as we’re in same boat really….limited energy security, although Germany probably in worst position of all. Without pointing the finger as our energy security is our own issue, Germanys over reliance on Russia rather than sort alternatives in the past has...

Im not sure enough has ever been done with regard to fracking in particular to tell. Nuclear is so much safer than it was. As I’ve said though I have limited knowledge. The alternative is what we’ve got now….
