No, Burge didn't cost us the 3 points - if Thomas or JCH had taken their fairly simple chances to make it 2 - 0 then the Burge mistake would not have happened, or certainly wouldn't have affected the result in the way it eventually did. I find it strange that you marked Burge down to 4, for not...

I understand why Chaplin is getting such low marks, as his impact on the game yesterday was less than minimal. However, he was obviously playing to orders - why else was he the "No 9", with Bakayoko on the wing? Chaplin ran and ran, to no avail, but was not helped by the fact that Bakayoko...

Imagine if Mike Ashley stepped in......

What an interesting question. I would not baulk at the idea of Ashley coming in here, as I think he's done pretty well keeping Newcastle where they are, although as others have rightly pointed out, he hasn't made himself overly popular with the fans. I was listening to TalkSport yesterday and...

    Ex Player Watch

Just catching up on some recent MOTD's, and apart from Maddison and Callum Wilson featuring quite a lot, also saw the run and cross from Jacob "can't run and cross" Murphy for Rondon to score for Newcastle the other week.

    Tonight's CWR phone in....

CCFC and Man City are both football clubs - but not quite the same thing!

Gibbo, I'm afraid I disagree with you about Chaplin - I think he's got a football brain that's sharper than many of his team-mates, and especially JCH. His flick that put Thomas through for the penalty that wasn't given was brilliant. I said to my (equally ancient) mate last night that he...

    Atmosphere

Have to agree about the atmosphere - but in block 23 we could also hear the Peterborough fans through the game. Had to laugh as the 3 moaners behind me in block 23, row LL left as soon as Peterborough scored, and, along with many others, missed our equaliser.

    Evans

Pity Doyle didn't just lump it forward when he played the pass that led to their goal - but at least that gives you a chance to have a go at another of our players

Doyle should always get another point for his captaincy - his leadership on the pitch is invaluable. He also hit a perfect pass to start a breakaway near the end of the game, and was one of the most forward players in another of the late breaks.

On the whole I think most have seen it the way I saw it.....Willis man of the match, Davies and Thomas not far behind. Brown looked like the weakest link in the back four, but tremendous block at the end, and obviously playing while not 100% well, hence dashing off to the changing room at the...

    Bradford rating

Sorry about the delay in responding. I was just asking if people, many of whom had pointed it out previously, felt that he had stopped falling over/diving as much as he had been doing. Of course, if he wins free-kicks I'd be happy, but more often than not he wasn't (past tense). From what I've...

    Video Bradford v Coventry

Well done by the ref for playing advantage for the 4th goal, and to Doyle for the initial ball out of defence to Chaplin for the 3rd goal.

Has JCH finally stopped falling over every time he gets the slightest touch from an opposition player? Last time I saw him (a few games ago) he was worth his weight in gold for his defensive performance, clearing headers from corners etc, but didn't win any in attack.

    Trouble after

No it won't. We won't take 5000ish fans there, most of the people who travel up will be decent football following fans, and will unfortunately most likely be targeted by the Sunderland fans wanting revenge/to prove how hard they are. I've been to watch us at Sunderland a number of times, and...

    Sterling negativity

The problems both Grimmer and Sterling have is that they are o9ften let down by the midfielder playing in front of them not giving them enough cover. Sterling is especially vulnerable as Bayliss is (justifiably) often playing higher up the field - the first goal against Scunthorpe was a perfect...

Match Thread Coventry City vs Plymouth Argyle Match Thread - Saturday 18th Aug

Touched a nerve, did I? :emoji_fishing_pole_and_fish: For the record, I am not, and have never been employed as a clown - I have often been tempted, as have many others I suspect, to call you any one of several derogatory names, but haven't done so. Can't be saying stuff like that, not agreeing with Grendel, the man who supports the team but no one in it......edit, he seems to like Jordan Shipley (today) but I wonder what he would have said if another player had had three shots without scoring, especially one that should have wrapped the...

My last comment obviously about McNulty. I like to see how ex-City players are doing, and hope that the ones who haven't taken the piss do well..... certain others, I'm happy to see get their just rewards.
