Another option might have been to bring Foakes in for Robinson and let Bairstow have the next test purely as a batsman. Of course it's not going to happen. Anderson will be playing at Old Trafford. Personally I would drop Bairstow for Foakes, but it's not going to happen.

I expect the transfer to be completed before he's due back after his extra time off for international duty. If it gets to the point of him being due back, not sold but not at training would generate a lot of interest and speculation that the club just don't need.

But as it stands with our small squad numbers the players will probably get the same number of minutes as larger squads playing more games. Until we get some more bodies in I don't want us playing many game at the moment. This early in pre-season you want to be slowly building up game time and...
