    Election 2015

Anyway, assuming it is a hung parliament, I don't see how any of the leaders of the 3 big parties can come out of it with any credit. If Cameron can't beat someone as useless as Milliband then he has failed. If Milliband can't pick up the lost 15% Lib Dem vote then he has failed. If Clegg...

    Election 2015

I disagree with the class structure thing. Prior to the 80's there was an elite group of homeowners and it was quite difficult for anyone to break into that elite. Selling the council houses allowed millions of working class people to join the group of homeowners. Yes its unfortunate that not...

    Election 2015

I would be in favour of that. IMO one of the biggest things to cause the housing shortage is people buying a load of houses and then renting them out. It distorts the market, and causes the quality of housing stock to drop (private landlords generally spend as little as possible on maintenance etc).

No, because as unfair as it might be, there is nothing that can be done about it.

    Election 2015

I guess this comes down to ideology. For me there should be no need for social housing. The long term goal of the government should be for everyone to own their own home, and all efforts should be made to make owning a home as easy as possible. Social housing is a symptom of the economic and...

    Election 2015

I would agree that this time round it seems as though much of the finer detail hasn't been worked out well, however the principle is still a great idea. It worked well in the '80's as well, the fact that subsequent governments didnt build enough social housing since then is a seperate issue.

    Election 2015

Allowing people to buy their council house was one of the best policies any government has ever done to help working class people. My grandparents were beyond poor in their youth, for them to be able to own thier house that they had rented for 30 years was a dream for them. Everyone should have...

    Election 2015

I think thats unlikely with the rise of the SNP. Labour doesn't have the support in England to get a decent majority.

Not that I have to justify myself to you but the match hasn't started yet. What pearls of wisdom will I discover on there that I don't already know?

Well you did actually. You took the time to leave the match thread to come and make a childish comment about me posting in here. Why don't you shut all the threads down apart from the match thread if thats the only one you approve of people posting in?

Whats your problem? If you don't approve of this thread then delete it. I am not the author of it. If your not going to delete it then people will post on it. You've made yourself look very foolish here.

The council ask for your approval on Thursday. If you don't like it vote them out. That's how democracy works.

    Election 2015

True, and by the next election no one will have won more than 40% of the vote for 19 years. If the seat boundaries were drawn more fairly, 2005 would have also been a hung parliament, meaning we would be now approaching our 3rd coalition in a row.

    Election 2015

With the rise of the SNP its difficult to see Labour getting a significant majority ever again. On the popular vote Labour have won in England twice in the last 65 years.

    Election 2015

The problem is the public/media get the politicians they deserve. The biggest issue with politicians is lack of trust. Now if a politician got up and said the truth of "if you vote for me the next few years will be hell, but I will sort the country out long term". Another politician would get up...

    Childish remark.

If your talking about Wasps breaking an agreement then Wasps would be to blame. If ccfc let the current one wind down & Wasps decide they want to go it alone then ccfc would be to blame (through poor planning over the past 15 years)
