Didn't seem shy about trying stuff and although some / all of the threaded passes didn't work out, I don't think he is there for ball retention. Looked composed enough on the ball. Really hope he does well for us.
I definitely agree with this and don't think they'll sell, but also maybe they recognise the value of our current players is the highest is has been and will be for a while I imagine?
Anyone know anything about the current Rotherham team? Are they a similar physical side to the one that went up previously, or are we expecting something different?
Thought Gyo was good yesterday and I was worried that his form last year would be some kind of fluke. I don't think it will be now.
Guilty of being a little selfish at times but I don't think he was quiet as someone said on here. Only kept quiet by constant fouling which plays into our hands...
I think the fact that Sunderland played with 2 wide attackers either side of their CF meant it was a particularly difficult afternoon for both wing backs and probably nullified much of their possible threat going forwards too.
I think Swansea have played a much slower possession based game where as we look to move the ball forwards much quicker, so perhaps that's what he isn't adapting to? He is an absolute unit and defo looks the part.
Out of possession he's largely okay. The way he got done for the cross was daft...
Oh I agree, I think Panzo was my MOTM today. Just pointing out what some of the Mackems are saying is all, also mentioning Panzo. Always interesting to see opposition fan views - they're often less clouded by agendas etc than the views of some on here!
Hamer and Sheaf were much better in the...
Sunderland fans highlighted him as being one of the best players on the park, just so you know...
He did some frustrating things and his delivery was uncharacteristically poor from set pieces today.
Please don't confuse my posts with slating him, many players weren't great today. My opinion of him is based upon last season too, so I'm hoping five games in this season, you'll be quoting me, pointing out how stupid I am!
Let's settle on, he's not the wingback for us :)
I do still think if we opt for the 4-3-3 more often this season he may come into his own. I think having attacking players within closer proximity to him and down the channels will help.
I know people on here love to jump to his defence based on his experience. And this isn't to single him out because he wasn't the worst today at all.
However, he's not a wing back. Certainly not within the way we play. He doesn't look to pass the ball progressively often enough, not...
