3000mtrs track today at Pingles. 10:52.... 4th out of 7 Godiva runners. Think was 11th out of 15 overall. Happy to go under 11mins, and finish in a higher than expected position, especially given the weather.... it was very unpleasant racing conditions!

Although Leeds is a decent away day... its arguably the poorest of the bigger Yorkshire days.... both Sheffield clubs, and i'd say Barnsley, are better away days imo...

I think the entire policy on "professional fouls" and "dangerous play" is completely arse-about-face. A slightly late, but genuine attempt at a tackle, can easily get you a straight red. However, diving/feigning injury, and my pet-hate "taking a booking for the team" are whats ruining...

Raced the Yorkshire Three Peaks fell race on saturday... its a very well-known fell walk/hike, and a very popular charity event (as much so as the National Three Peaks) For a fell race, there's an awful lot of fast flat running and some decent sections of road... i'd heard many horror-stories...

Use a Suunto Ambit Run (i think.... it was given to me free 2nd hand) to measure my distances running. But record everything on good old pen & paper.

I think its personal preference. A lot of high quality athletes and coaches maintain that the rest should be a jog. I prefer static rest, although admittedly i usually pace around to stay "loose". Its amazing the difference between say 1 minute and 2 minute rest periods.... if you're fit a 2...

That is a decent session.... i'm hitting similar times for km reps (generally 3:23-3:30)..... although our sessions are slightly different, having 90secs static rest, and usually only 5 reps.

Unfortunately rest (or at least a severe reduction in mileage and intensity) is the only sure way to resolve it.

For a city of its size its pretty poor imo. Has all of the negatives of most large cities, and few of the positives. Pains me to say it, but of all the large cities in this vague region.... Leicester, Birmingham, Nottingham, even Sheffield... its got the least to offer.

Weren't our away fans loudly proclaiming that "Birmingham get battered everywhere they go" just 3 days before.... (is that everywhere except Cov???) I don't think we can take too much of a moral high-ground when it comes to songs sung at home fans...

Funny how much we "despise" Sunderland for referring to everyone who doesn't get 30000 every home game as "tinpot". Yet one decent season in the championship and we're all at it...

Can't really knock Sunderland, getting 33k at home in the 3rd division. Its really tight for the playoff spots. I doubt that a loss puts them out of it. But a win against Plymouth certainly makes them a favourite to make a playoff spot. Its in their hands although Plymouth and Rotherham to play...

It is rather amazing how the Italians/Spanish etc were regarded for decades as "dirty bastards" "cheats" etc, for diving, time-wasting, etc. But now the English are equally proficient at it, its now referred to as "the modern game" / "good game management" and so forth. Can't be saying anything...

Got to agree with the original post. There's clearly a huge jump in terms of matchday experience between the lower two divisons and the championship. But the jump from championship to Premier League is barely recognisable, save for the very top teams. There's arguably a more inspiring set of...
