Anyway, his main job is to pick the ball up from the defence or keeper and help us play through the opposition press.
He's very good at that.
I'm not worried about how many tackles he mates or his "ground duel %" as that simply is not his role.
He doesn't have a clue what players in the CDM do in modern teams.
It's not his job to win tackles etc, he is there to help block lanes but his main role is in possession.
He seems to think modern CDMs are like David Fucking Batty
And yes he does play the ball short and to the side sometimes but that is what CDMs are meant to do, retain the ball.
He clearly also has the ability to pink lovely long passes and carry it forward through the thirds himself
