    Jack Grimmer

We have a high proportion of shouty fans who don't get that certain flair players are not going to be the best at tracking back. In most cases its best to just let them be, and save their energy for attacking. Murphy was a case in point, as before him had the likes of Baker, Salako and David...

Amadou Bakayoko - Confirmed 2 Year Deal

I think people have actually been soft on Sterling, recognising the potential he must have, even given 2 mediocre performances so far. If Grimmer had been caught day dreaming & caught so woefully out of position for Scunthorpe's 1st goal last week, he would have got much more stick. ,

Match Thread Coventry City at AFC Wimbledon Match Thread - Saturday 11th Aug

He's shown nothing in his two games so far to suggest he would be suited by such a role. He gets forward a lot less than Grimmer, and seems a bit more defensive minded. When he joined, and on hearing the reports about him I expected him to be a pacy wing back type, but while obviously not slow...

The forward positions are still all up for grabs. It is understandable MR is going to give his new signings first stab at staking their place in the team, but it will be a month or two before we see the true pecking order evolve.

Maybe I'd leave Willis out a while longer to fully recover, and either stick with Hyam or consider giving Thompson a start, but otherwise that team would be fine by me

    Player Ratings v Wimbledon

O'Brien - 7 decent save near the end, perhaps could have helped defence by coming off his line a bit more Sterling - 5 disappointing again - thought he would offer more coming forward & not the strongest defensively Davies - 9 immense, really stood up against battering ram type forwards Hyam - 8...

    Transfer Rumour Deadline Week

I would imagine that given we already have Doyle, Ogogo & Kelly at the club, bringing in another midfielder to protect the back four would hardly be a top priority.

    Highlights

Even if Bayliss wasn't fouled for the first goal, but was muscled off it I don't blame him particularly. His biggest strength is the way he bursts through the opposition midfield and breaks defensive lines. The nature of that type of player is that they will get tackled and lose possession on...

Disappointing result but first game results generally have little relevance to the league's eventual outcome. I thought there were some decent signs and we were a little unlucky not to win the game. Making 3 subs in one go seemed a strange decision, while the only player that overly disappointed...

So anyone regretting the early season ticket buy now McNulty sold ?

Mcnulty had a great season no doubt, but it won't be until Christmas that we can really assess the impact of his loss. I think its actually positive he's gone now rather than around the transfer deadline, so that Robins can now make a proper informed signing rather than a panic one to replace...

    John Sillett

I'm a bit surprised he would say buying Speedie was a mistake. He was fantastic for us and one of my favourite players. If there was a mistake it was not signing more players like him when our stock was high, particularly a left back.

One of the great things about this season

I agree completely with this, and is why it has been so hard for us to retain players like Maddison & Thomas that we might previously have kept for a little bit longer. Prem clubs & even Championship clubs sign players they have no intention of putting in their team, but who they still own...

    Liam Gallagher loving Coventry

What Man City played in was known as light blue. The term 'Sky Blues' started with JH's CCFC. Man City have never been the Sky Blues, although some lazy commentators are happy to label them with that tag.

What Song Would You Listen To ?

Footballers have awful taste in music & I would hate to be stuck on a coach listening to their crap selection. This isn't a particularly generational comment either as I remember back in the 80's in the Shoot magazine Q& A's that favourite music act would inevitably be boring dross like Phil...

most ever CCFC fans in one ground

The West Ham cup game at their place was my first away game. What an introduction! Was 16 & living in Rugby & got train - after the game was absolute mayhem. I got split up from my mates & just put my head down ignoring the flying bricks & bottles & fist fights going around me. Somehow made it...
