You may be right..... on closer inspection it does look as if his flag is perhaps pointing towards the Southend end. I thought it was pointing straight up to indicate an offside

It certainly looked like there were defenders on the line, but back to the question...... why did the linesman flag? Maybe their defenders were 6 inches off the line and our player was on the line. It's impossible to judge from the video

Certainly not Davies, you can't be offside from a corner, but at the instant Davies headed the ball, a player on the line could have been offside (though very questionable that they could have been interfering with play). Why did the linesman flag if he thought the ball didn't cross the line?

Re the disallowed goal... The ball appeared to cross the line and was then cleared. So why did the linesman stand with his flag up? You don't flag to indicate that the ball didn't cross the line, unless the ref had in fact given the goal and the linesman wanted to attract his attention to argue...
