True, it doesn’t account for the actual player (how could it?). From memory, Torp’s second was put as 0.01 xG, effectively saying 1 in 100 shots from that place (with the defence set as it was) would go in. xG stats are useful as a trend over time, not as specific instances.

Match Thread Coventry City - Queens Park Rangers Match Thread - Saturday 23rd Aug

Correct. There’s actually a very good explanation in The Athletic article yesterday - in short, it was a freak. It was the 3rd largest discrepancy out of over 18600 games across Europe where xG has been recorded. The top 2 were also 7 or 8 goal thrashings.

    Fever Dream

According to the article yesterday in The Athletic, this was the 3rd largest discrepancy in xG to actual goals in over 18600 games across the major leagues where xG has been recorded. The odds of scoring from all of those 7 shots were calculated at 25000/1. Most of them had an individually very...

    Identity

As others have said, the tours are great with loads of interesting info and it’s good to see how everything fits together behind the scenes. A couple of interesting snippets from the last one: new Premier league standard floodlights have recently been fitted, and the pitch is being cut to...

The last one was on the first Thursday of the month. The next one is on the last Saturday of the month. Apart from that you’re spot on!

The most important day in the clubs history

That’s an EFL rule (in place for a while), nothing to do with the new football administrator.

    Stadium update

During a CBSA tour earlier this month, the Arena head of operations (working for Frasers) said that Frasers had invested £13m in infrastructure in the first year after purchase so Frasers considered it a £30m investment (including the £17m purchase price). I suspect we’ve paid upwards of that as...

    Stadium update

There was never any chance of that. Ashley has never once visited the arena and has less than zero interest in another football venture.

    Clive Eakin on CWR

The main problem isn’t her gender, it’s that she appears to know very little about football.

    Pre Season Friendlies

If the email says that there is a print at home PDF, wouldn’t you expect it to be there? I’m not sure this is the supporters’ fault.

    Pre Season Friendlies

Yes, “digital wallet only” means on your phone. No other option (unless you physically buy it at the ticket office, I assume).

At time of purchase it did say that it was delayed delivery.

The ticket office has confirmed that it’s a mistake on the email, there will be no print at home option. It’s digital wallet only.

Same here, although there’s no PDF attached for the print at home (despite what it says). Anyone have the same issue?

    Matchday Ticket Prices

So you’re saying there is a chance that we will change the price even though they are on sale and people are buying them? That’s never happening.

    Matchday Ticket Prices

Sorry, I must have misunderstood. I thought you said: “What will be interesting is to see if we do charge £45 for Birmingham.”

    Matchday Ticket Prices

Why do you think it’s in doubt that we would charge £45 for Birmingham? Tickets are already on sale at that price so it isn’t going to change.
