    Everton away next season

Notts County and Luton were in the top flight the season before the PL though. Always slightly pisses me off how top flight football doesn't seem to count before the PL

I see ex Cov centre back pairing in the League 2 team :)

    Everton away next season

Interesting how they originally made it into the top flight in 1919 though. They had finished 5th in Division 2 in the last season before the 1st world war, and it was thought that a lot of money was exchanged to ensure their place in the new top flight after the war. Tottenham were placed in...

    Jack Rudoni

Yes fair enough. I appreciate its not impossible that someone can come from a relegated club at a lower level and still make the step up, particularly youngsters. Thinking about it I guess Scott Twine was in a similar position playing for a relegated League 1 club this time last year, and there...

No, the point was that they are being relegated from a league below us to an even lower league. The comparison with that West Ham team is ridiculous and not therefore comparable, even more so given that Lampard & Ferdinand (Rio anyway) were not part of that relegated team anyway.

    To League 2?

How are they about to be relegated to League 2 if they have so many young talented players?

    Transfer Shouts

That draw at Huddersfield, we had played them off the park though! If I remember right I also think Cardiff were not in a great place at the time. Nevertheless there are plenty of games that felt lost opportunities at the time. Stand out ones for me were away at Barnsley and Derby at home, when...

    Transfer Shouts

Would we? They must have played their part in Barnsley's awful season!

Match Thread WBA (A) - Sat 23rd April

While we still have any chance of play offs then I'm more concerned about this season. Of course, if we don't win today then I imagine MR will rest him for the last 2 games anyway, but for now we can worry about next season once it comes round. Who knows, but by the time it does he could be...

That's as maybe, but we are still better with him than without him.

Why not just pay in installments?

    Who and Why ?

In regards to the back 3, our style of play limits us slightly in the type of centre back we can go for. Ideally we want a physical and domineering type centre back, and also one that is lightning quick. However, whoever those players are they will need to be also comfortable on the ball, and in...

    What a roller coaster

I feel like we've lost out now too, but win at West Brom and I will probably start to think otherwise.

    Waghorn

With Walker he just needs this season to end, go away and have a good Summer break, and put this season behind him. Come next pre season he can then start again and treat it as a fresh start and a fresh opportunity. Hopefully if he stays injury free and can get his confidence up he might yet...

    Ratings vs Bournemouth

Yes, Blackburn offered 3 or 4 times more than we'd just paid for him. Telfer really was a strange one - not the slightest bit interested in football, but had a long career and was deemed a bit of a wholehearted player, however else his qualities may have been viewed. Apparently he could ping a...

O'hare norwich according to national papers

This I agree with you on. Like when we sold McSheffrey to Blues, just after he had scored the winner against pre season favourites, Sunderland. Blues end up getting promoted, and we probably finished 17th (haven't checked if we did but that's where we always seemed to finish until we got...

    This Summer

I thought you were setting out a scenario if we lost one of our forwards? Even so I don't think we can expect much from Waghorn or Walker next season, although it would be a bonus if either could put this season behind them, and perform as we had hoped they might when they were signed.

Match Thread Bournemouth (H) Easter Monday

While that's generally true, we do seem to have struggled against Bournemouth since we came back to the Championship, and we have also sometimes struggled dealing with a quick turn around in games. The crowd could have a big part to play today so let's hope we turn up in numbers, make it...

Matty godden championship record at coventry

Given a full squad available it is touch and go whether Godden would be a definite starter these days and moving forward, but how often do we have that luxury? We need decent back up and Godden provides that. To adequately replace him would be much more costly than his 8k a week. MR sees value...
