Match Thread Southampton - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 20th Dec

This is it. For those of us who have been around a while the idea of it not somehow going spectacularly wrong is hard to shake.

Got up for a piss, considered watching for a bit, checked the score, went back to bed. You're not winning games relaying on Stokes and Archer to score runs and bail you out of the shit. Even if they get the lead under 100 does anyone have confidence in us getting them out for a low total and...

Best TV shows or movies you can recommend

I find the release schedule a bit odd. Surely you either put it all up on iplayer in one go or do one a week, or one every night for a week. 2 episodes one Sunday, 2 episodes the next Sunday and then the final episode the Sunday after is just the worst of all options.

    Oliver Dovin

I'm not so sure. Not seen much to suggest he's desperate to be a regular starter. Seems pretty settled in the area and happy enough being a backup. Not sure there's a huge difference between being second choice and third choice. Club seem happy to have him around and he can't be on a huge wage...

Are peoples manners getting worse ?

People seemed to forget how to behave during lockdown. You see it everyday but its really noticeable when you go to games or other public events like gigs just how self centered everyone has become. Its not even lack of manners its just basic common decency.

    Our next major appointment

I had the misfortune of seeing a few minutes of this flicking through the channels the other night. Its like someone thought lets bring back masters football, which was fun, but make it as shit as possible by adding in 'celebs' and 'influencers' and pointless rule changes. Avoid at all costs.

    Bondi Beach Sydney incident

Modern media is a shitshow. The rush to get something first for the 24 hour news cycle and beat social media has destroyed news. Desperately searching for anyone who knew them to get some snippet of information before anyone else. We're regularly seeing the wrong people named for stuff...

    Death List 2025

Gil Gerard, best known as Buck Rogers. News report says unexpected but he was 82 and had cancer so not sure how unexpected it can really be.

    Sold out already?

I can imagine there's a few people who wouldn't say no to something like a 5pm kick off on Christmas Day. Good excuse to escape the festivities! What would you prefer, a Christmas Day match or having to sit through Call the Midwife & Mrs Browns Boys :ROFLMAO:

Couldn't be arsed to stay up late / get up early again. Not a terrible first day but seems very much a 'wait until both sides have batted' situation. Watch Starc go on and get a ton or a century last wicket partnership or something similar.

Trump is my favourite comedian of the year already

Pretty big difference imo between some of us idiots on here talking about Kirk and the President of the USA celebrating an American being murdered because he dared to criticise him.

    Sold out already?

Doesn't seem to be a lot of stats but it looks like if you're a factory worker you're far more likely to be off as production shuts down. For office workers the stats I can find suggest 61.5% work between Christmas and New Year. The overriding sentiment seems to be its a complete waste of...

Something we can all agree on!

    Sold out already?

Indeed, which is already a majority. It then goes on to say that the reason that figure is dropping is people working flexible or compressed hours which is still working on 'normal' working days rather than weekends. Nobody is suggesting that working patterns aren't changing or that more...

    Sold out already?

'loads' is still very much a minority. The majority of people work Monday to Friday and get public holidays off. Of the people who don't work Monday to Friday a big chunk are people on flexible working or compressed hours (eg Monday to Thursday). Not sure why people are trying to make out...
