    Ashes 2023

Nice one Broady, only the weather stopped the greatest ashes comeback in history

    Hamer

Yea so you sell and maximise the transfer fee, but you were suggesting it would be madness from the clubs side to to invest £5 million to try and keep him. If the budget was available which we don't even know then I think you could spend £5 million in a lot of worse ways.

You're changing your argument now to suit, you were suggesting it would be insane of the club to commit £5 million of the budget to keep Hamer as he could get injured or loss of form. I don't think it would be insane and would be a good investment If he won't sign, he won't sign and we need to...

Bargain in comparison then if you can keep Hamer for £5 million

    Hamer

He's gonna be a top earner and at least £3.5 million in transfer fee, reckless going by your logic as we've committed well over £5 million of the budget to a player who might not perform or could get a long term injury. He may well have not signed it and its all hypothetical but your reasoning...

If we could sign the best midfielder in the championship for £5 million pounds transfer fee you would be buzzing.

    Hamer

Well we've just comitteed more that that on Simms in transfer fees and wages on a player who could be crap or get a severe injury tomorrow. Only difference is we know Hamer is good, and are hoping Simms will be good

    O'Hare contract

Yea, don't want to be in same position in 12 months time if he hits form once he's back
  9. SkyBlue_Bear83

    O'Hare contract

I would offer him a 2 year extension

    Denis Dragus

If he's unsure then move on, he's not Lionel Messi
  11. SkyBlue_Bear83

    Hamer

And then you may risk losing him for free at the end of the players contract

If someone offers £8 million for a player And another club offers £3 million And the player will only go to the club who offers £3 million Was the player worth £3 million or £8 million?

Don't think he's done it on purpose but it's annoyed me as well

https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/football/transfer-news/coventry-city-transfers-gustavo-hamer-27422021 He’s a top player, there’s no doubt about it, and other clubs covet them and put things in his head and that’s something that you can’t remove from his head. This line would suggest...

    Who can replace him?

Nottingham Forest would want a big fee for him, he has 2 or 3 years left on his contract. Wouldn't surprise me if the asking price is £10 million for O'Brien
  17. SkyBlue_Bear83

    Who can replace him?

We won't be able to afford O'Brien
  18. SkyBlue_Bear83

    Hamer

Yea potentially, just think it would mean a season of transition right now.
  19. SkyBlue_Bear83

    Hamer

And how many of them do it successfully, I would suggest only the teams who are are paying the big money can make that work. If we could go out and afford to buy the second best midfielder in the championship after Hamer that would be great but i don't think we are in the market for those...

Yea just think it kills play offs for the coming season, even if we invest it well think it will take a year or two for the new team and players to grow and develop into a team which can challenge the play offs. Much like how the 22/23 team was built over three seasons.
