Match Thread Coventry City - Bristol City FC Match Thread - Saturday 18th Jan

Great result today. Deserved the clean sheet as we’ve been a lot tighter in recent games, just had some bad luck. Look a threat going forward second half as well and all this without Wright, Mason Clark and Sheaf

Match Thread Coventry City - Bristol City FC Match Thread - Saturday 18th Jan

Not sure what to make of the line up. Expected a couple of changes, especially if players are on the move ! I suppose we had played well for a fair bit of last weeks game but would prefer to keep a settled defence if everyone’s fit

My point was that prospective cuts would’ve been related to what’s happening in the gilt market. I thought FP was talking about if more were required as reeves might potentially break her fiscal rules. Might be talking crossed purposes though

Match Thread Coventry City - Bristol City FC Match Thread - Saturday 18th Jan

Spot on. It was mess. No consistency, leaky defence (yet Kitching still not being given an even a sniff), Mason Clark consistently being shoved out on his wrong side, strikers in no rhythm or confidence. It was like the first time Robins had got a squad where the subs/squad players were up to a...

‘Surely lampard didn’t come here with no money to spend in January’

If lampards looking at this as a longer term play he’ll be happy with this approach. You can easily blow millions on overpriced transfers and loans in Jan. If the right players are available at the right price, then I’m pretty sure we’ll get some deals done*, if not we’ll have to sit tight. I’d...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

It does to an extent. The markets want to see control over spending ie government is likely to be able to repay the debt and they will be getting back a good return Obviously we always will always repay as we can just print more, however, that can cause inflation/debase the currency which...

    Transfer Rumour January transfer window

Not sure the extension is about being potless then, more likely about him impressing Lampard since he’s been here. Robins didn’t want him. Lampard does 🤷‍♂️. The fact that we’re lacking in experienced players round the group is probably a major factor

    Transfer Rumour January transfer window

Exactly. We can complain that there’s gaps in the team/squad but nobody can say the cash has been frittered away until we see how players do over their contracts here (not just first 20 games) and what we end up getting for them

    Transfer Rumour January transfer window

This is why I don’t get people having a go at king. Yeah, he’s made mistakes but he’s spent big money on transfers (mostly generated from sales) and is covering the losses. Fans were never building in the additional wages when they wanted a bigger squad/king to spend all the Vik and Hamer...

    Viktor Moving on

this is incorrect. sporting settled early as they’d already paid some of the add ons and knew that if they paid the remainder it would reduce the sell on percentage from 15% to 10%. Just common sense from their perspective due to likely sale value

Giving kids from families that can’t afford it a healthy nutritious breakfast, is great and a good use of cash Giving all kids whether they need it or not, a substandard breakfast, not so good I’ve seen what hospitals give patients recovering from illness and medical procedures to eat, so...

Not sure I understand Wingy ? Think China has been selling some U.S. bonds recently Hopefully if their yields (borrowing rates) come down a bit so will ours as we fish in the same pond for international investors/buyers of bonds

U.S. CPI* also slightly better than expected. Good news again. Might help bond yields further as ours seem to have followed US of late. Might also help to weaken dollar a little which could give pound/other currencies a bump *edit - core was better

    Transfer Rumour BTA to Blackburn

It’s been tricky for the strikers this season. Robins was like a dog with two dicks earlier in the season, strikers rotated/subbed to give others a run out. I don’t think any have really got into a rythym/run of form. I still believe that if the Bassette deal was available earlier we may not...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Bond/gilt yields have recently gone through the roof (due to global affects not just U.K. economy/government policy), the additional government borrowing costs have removed all of Reeves headroom, markets are still unconvinced of medium term growth prospects so without taking action (increased...

Finally some better economic news for Reeves. Needed as things were unravelling Let’s hope it’s not because the wheels have already come off and an economic downturn is feeding through into inflation figures (probably not, bit too soon)

He’s been named on here but cant remember who it was.

    Transfer Rumour January transfer window

Hard to disagree with this although I like BTA, great work ethic and comes across well. Always had the feeling that if we’d known the bassette deal was available at the time we maybe wouldnt have signed BTA

    Transfer Rumour January transfer window

didn’t king sanction a loan in the summer which fell through due to pre deadline injury ? I’d be shocked if he went against lampards wishes unless the loan fee/costs just don’t make sense

    Liam Kitching

Robins has nurtured a lot of players over the years but I get the impression that he and the coaching staff totally mismanaged Kitching. Only time will tell but good to see him being given a chance
