Thing is Da Silva won't have been completely free, he will have had a signing on fee and agents to pay etc. Likewise Bink's and Ayari will have commanded some sort of loan fee. Very difficult to guage what our actual spend has been.

It makes a certain amount of sense if you get the player relatively cheaply, but the Archer deal looks like poor business for Sheff U.

It does seem that any genuine academy talents bypass the 23s and jump up to the first team (or more likely get poached whilst still a kid). Not sure what the answer is though.

Seems that story about the failed medical wasn't true. According to the local rag Charlton have offered him a contract but he's got other offers on the table so is training with them while he decides
