Trump is my favourite comedian of the year already

Which would be hilarious if it wasn’t worrying. What a weird country we live in

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

This is more the discussion we should be having. What are people happy to pay for good public services and then can the government deliver them ! Unfortunately the lack of confidence in the latter (all political parties) makes the former trickier At the moment for example I’m paying...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

If they didn’t, I presume the only answer is print more ? There are £2.5trn worth of bonds that would need to be repaid/replaced over time. I don’t know what would happen in terms of inflation (hyper inflation) and currency debasement if we printed all that cash but I doubt it would be pretty...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

FP is correct in a way, we can print however much we want, to pay for whatever we want. What is never really acknowledged is the impact of a government not demonstrating a semblance of financial control ie cost of borrowing goes up, need to print more to cover interest on government debt...

    Championship thread 24/25!

Pretty rancid though considering the financial advantages they’ve had. Wilders done his job though

Match Thread Coventry City - Sunderland Match Thread - Saturday 15th Mar

Got to hold my hands up, wasn’t sure if playing wright ahead of simms down the middle was the right call before the game but it was a masterstroke. What a team performance. Best of the season. Every player was on it….torp and Allen’s excellent, as were the full backs but everyone was 8+ today...

Trump is my favourite comedian of the year already

I can usually try to find a way of justifying some of the more bizarre decisions Trump makes. Constant talk of tariffs and DOGE has led to uncertainty around growth which has led to government borrowing costs reducing (US needs to refinance $7trn soon) is an example. As is telling Zelenskyy that...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Just to add to the the productivity conversation…… ‘He (McFadden) will say that while Whitehall departments have grown substantially in recent years — increasing by more than 15,000 workers since the end of 2023 — people have not seen improvements to their public services. Four times as many...

    Ellis simms

More he draws defenders with him allowing late runners space to get on the end of things Edit - I don’t think yesterday was a particularly good game from Simms, just that there were reasons for it and it was a thankless task

    Ellis simms

Was left way too isolated yesterday, needed other forwards to get a lot closer to him. I thought Mason Clark didn’t look quite right and was constantly on his heels…it was only after the game that I heard he came into yesterday with toe injury that forced him off

Match Thread Coventry City - Stoke City Match Thread - Saturday 8th Mar

I understand the sentiment but ref gives that obvious pen and we’re out of sight….not to mention Eccles smacking the post…. and their offside second. It would’ve been a travesty if we hadn’t won

    Bobby thomas

This is spot on. He tries riskier passes. Played an absolute beauty at one point today. Unfortunately it’s some of the easier ones where he can be sloppy. Robins knows this can be a weakness and their press focussed on allowing Thomas to have the ball. He’s a wholehearted player though and...

Bobby fuckin Thomas ! This team’s got some bollocks. Would’ve been a robbery if we hadn’t won. Massive !

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Im guessing it’s a variety of things like time to see patients, deliver procedures, turnaround of patients etc against costs, staff etc Actually, I can do better than that. Just googled ‘Their definition of productivity measures how well the NHS turns a volume of inputs (eg staff, drugs...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I know I was saying rather than direct all the new cash at the nhs, a proportion would’ve been better spent in social care to free up capacity Ps it shouldn’t be by the way, it needs to be an integrated system

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

The care in the nhs is usually very good but there’s major issues with it and it’s not just funding https://www.ft.com/content/7c03473b-3fe7-4c98-a323-3346457aa408 Productivity down significantly since the pandemic, there’s extra staff but waiting lists increasing and insufficient bed...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Got to question WTF is going on when the NHS employs 1.5m people (about 1 in 20 of working age population) Ps I hope they’re finally sorting out the problem Dave

Trump is my favourite comedian of the year already

The facts appear to be… - Ukraine cannot continue to fight the war or even defend themselves properly, without significant U.S assistance - Europes inaction over recent years to increase defence spending/capacity has left a reliance on U.S. - The U.S. has no skin in the game really, this is on...
