    Sheffield Wednesday "on the pitch"

Had a look at their message board and their fans seem as divided about protesting on the pitch as ours were for the Sheff U game back in the day. I remember Nick and a few others being vehemently opposed to the protest action taken at the time! While it might be easy enough to get on the pitch...

    Sheffield Wednesday "on the pitch"

If the football league were to make it clear before the game that they will forfeit the points if it is abandoned due to the actions of their fans, it would probably limit the number prepared to take such action.

    Aled Williams & John Dempster

Marosi wasn't the same after having his cheekbone smashed. To be fair he also benefited from having a very good back 3 (certainly by League 1 standards) in front of him, which probably made him look better than he was.

1972 was mine. If you were around at the time I'm surprised you forgot the run to win the Dvision 2 title in 1967!

Depends if you think football only started when the PL did. We were unbeaten in our last 25 games of the 1966/67 season. We might of got close to that in 2019/20 when Covid disrupted the season during a long unbeaten run.

    Leicester Ratings

The trouble with assist stats is that you're reliant on another person putting the chances away. If Rudoni's header yesterday, EMC's missed header against Norwich and Wright's shot against the bar at Oxford had gone in nobody would be moaning about Saka's poor dellivery.

    Lampard to West Ham

Carsley said he didn't want the job because he didn't feel ready for it. Since then he has won another U21 Championship and had temporary experience in the job itself. By the time Tuchel leaves I imagine Carsley will be ready to take the job on. Southgate stepped up from the U21's so there is...

    Lampard to West Ham

Given his teams keep winning the Euro U21 comps I suspect Carsley is most likely to be the next England manager.

    Sheffield Wednesday "on the pitch"

It is a good time to be playing Wednesday, as later in the season they might be in a better position with possibly their Chairman gone. Playing them midweek in the middle of Winter would prrobably make the game more difficult for us. I've no problem with them protesting and understand why they...

    Stadium update

Rip off is a bit strong! Yes, they were clearly influenced by The Jam and while many Jam songs similarly touched on suburban town themes as WLADITT did, Going Underground itself was primarily a political dig at Thatcher. If you want to be equally pedantic of course you could lazily argue that...

    6 team play off

This sounds like a really stupid idea to me. The Championship is better now than it is ever been so I don't see the point in changing it.

Match Thread Coventry City - Norwich City Match Thread - Saturday 13th Sep

I will be very surprised if Woolfenden comes straight into the team. I would imagine (and hope) that Saka will come in for BTA. Left back is the big unknown. I haven't seen any reports on Dasilva's injury, so I guess he might yet be available. If he isn't fit I'm not sure if Lampard will go for...

    Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Is the main driver why Boosh wants us to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain so he can be a fan boy if his partner comes to watch him play.

    Sky Blues Quiz

Yes, he was a bit of a star in the 98 World Cup. At the time he was synonymous with a bit of trickery when facing 2 markers he put the ball between his 2 feet and bunnyhopped with the ball past his markers. My description doesn't do it justice, but it will probably be on Youtube somewhere :)

    Lampard to West Ham

They probably got the wrong end of the stick. West Ham fans hate him and it would be a 360 degree turnaround for them to suddenly want him back. If you've been posting on here for any length of time you will know that football fans changing their opinions once made is very rare.

    Sky Blues Quiz

That's helped pass half an hour :) Some educated guesses but here goes: Q1. Name 5 players who have played for City and scored at a FIFA World Cup finals - Moldovan/ Hadji/ Strachan/ McAllister/ Keane Q2. Name the cup semi finals City competed in during the 1980s - 81 League Cup/ 87 FA Cup/ 88...

    1 word to describe

It probably depends how old you are. We were in the top flight in the first 28 years of my supporting the club so Villa were generally viewed by our fans as our closest rivals. This was partly exacerbated by our failure to beat them for so long and losing important players to them (Mortimer/...

    Lampard to West Ham

He would be nuts going there, given the mutual hatred between him and their fans these last 20 years. They would crucify him the moment they hit a bad spell, and their board would end up sacking him as a result.

    Were are we now?

In time maybe, but I will be surprised if he is put straight in ahead of them.
