Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Sounds like the system is working over there whatever they’re doing. Would never get the buy in here. There was push back even when there was talk of people paying for missed appointments…too much of an admin burden 🤦‍♂️ I say that as someone who wants to see nhs continue as free at the point...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Agreed, I think the gaps maybe narrowed a little in recent years. Most use 2022 figures yet since then the number of docs in the nhs has increased from 130k to 145k. It was 97k in 2010. I’m not sure how they count private and nhs. Saying that our population has also shot up As I mentioned...

Tell the BMA/the doctors willing to strike this ! I’ve given examples of it not just being to do with money

It’s a mess Dave. The processes and basics just aren’t there a lot of the time I don’t think Norway is totally free at point of use which is maybe why they probably pay more and also why doctors have more time with patients (I presume less people might probably go unless they really needed it)...

Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window

Wrights a quality player on his day but never expected him to want to hang around for another season in the championship at his age. If we got £10m fair enough

Sorry to hear that Dave. I hope your heath issues can improve soon and your mum and dad remain as comfortable as possible (the difficulties of getting old - for both the parents and kids)

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Historically people would by in large see the same GP, however, there were changes to the contracts under Blair that the BMA negotiated that removed certain requirements for GP practices https://www.nuffieldtrust.org.uk/news-item/a-short-history-of-the-gp-contract-and-its-evolution-in-england...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Agreed, Ive also said many times before I think everyone needs to accept we need to pay more tax. Where we might differ is I think we also need to spend it more wisely as well

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

My point wasn’t that it’s everyone’s own fault, many people need prescription drugs for a variety of reasons, I was more responding to SBDs comment that it’s ‘the systems’ fault, when I think it’s a lot of individual factors within the system inc peoples behaviours in some instances. For example...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Agree, which is why putting all extra cash into the nhs, when a relatively small proportion of it could make a far bigger difference if it went into social care, seems crazy to me.* Also why I think what the BMA/resident doctors (likely followed by consultants etc) are doing is totally...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Yep, nothing to do with the poor doctors prescribing, or the unhealthy, lazy individual, or the BMA that negotiated the mess of the GP contracts under Blair. Where’s the responsibility or accountability ??? I read this recently ‘90 per cent of surgeries have now abolished the old “list”...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

So doctors strike and then the nhs has to pay exhorbitante amounts for agency/locum staff to cover strikers (some of those that probably support strikes at other times), so people can have their urgent procedures and people don’t die….and more money drains from the nhs. Great model if you want...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

If we keep getting fatter and unhealthier as a nation it won’t matter what we pay resident doctors, the nhs, in its current form, will be fucked I mentioned the other day that it’s forecast that by 2036/37 1 in 11 workers will work for the NHS. Crazy numbers. We as a country need to sort our...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Because it’s poorly run Edit - I’m saying this after speaking to a nhs consultant a couple of years ago. He explained that one of the main reasons for the exodus of staff, in particular nurses into locum/agency work was the poor staff planning and timetabling. Those with kids had better...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I presume it will vary country to country but pretty sure for GPs and specialists we pay pretty well. Probably depends on type of health service run in each country as well. I’d imagine more resident docs are likely to fuck off elsewhere because there’s isn’t a place for speciality training for...
