Match Thread Coventry City - Luton Town [LC] Match Thread - Tuesday 12th Aug

If you had a higher quality player with the similar attributes of Rapha, he’d start ahead of Sakamoto imo. His directness is admirable and had a little bit of magic that led to the goal. It was a v solid outing. There was an element of game management at play, but thought we looked more potent...

Match Thread Coventry City - Luton Town [LC] Match Thread - Tuesday 12th Aug

Fair play to Andrews and Rapha, they’ve both put in positive performances. There’s a long way for both to really push the starters but you can see why Lampard likes them both.

    What is going on?

It’s the usual bed wetter brigade who are making the same hasty takes that look stupid year on year. If we play as we did v Hull week in and week out, we won’t lose many games and will be up there in the playoffs. It was frustrating not to win but it was otherwise a decent performance, a 1-0...

Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window

I haven’t come across a single neutral that thought Sunderland were the better side of the tie. We beat Sunderland over the 90 minutes and had it not been for MVE’s back pass in the first leg, it could’ve been the difference between us winning the tie.

No, it’s a number game. If you only have 2 wingers and also play a formation with 2 wingers, one injury forced you into playing players out of position or a formation change. Which is what happened last season. The people who think we need a striker either think Haji Wright is a LW (Lampard...

Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window

That would be scary but all the CBs have been reliable in the sense that they’re v rarely injured. I’m less concerned that we’d run out of CBs as opposed to wingers which is by its nature, a position that has a higher attrition rate. In any case, it’s pretty clear that we’re chasing a CB and...

Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window

Exactly this. The obsession with buying a striker this window is just strange. We play a formation with 2 wingers and do not have credible backups. Over a 50 game season, Sakamoto and EMC will both miss games. To his credit, Saka was reliable and durable last season.

    Callum Doyle

They do have a good partnership and whenever they play, we concede less goals and more clean sheets despite what individual stats may say. Clean sheets is a team stat but the combinations cannot be underestimated.

Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window

Despite the facts, the wills and wants of player and manager… Haji Wright’s best position is from the left! 🤡

Can we save the bed wetting until the end of the transfer window at least? 😂

    The Squad

We now know that he was struggling with an injury so in my mind, he gets the benefit of the doubt. People don’t like Wright’s demeanour but his stats speak for itself and find this undercurrent hankering for a lump like Keiffer Moore or Carlton Morris really strange. Haji Wright was 4th joint...

    The Squad

In the case of Haji, he’s not even had a good stretch playing striker under Lampard. If he had a 5-10 game drought the questions being asked would be fairer.

Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window

We’re not selling Simms or BTA this season and people need to let that go… next season will be the time to take stock. As for Bassette, a loan will hopefully do him and us a load of good.

Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window

Nah, Kone is a good player but 18 goals in L1 is v good but Toney was a goal every 1.3 games… He’s not at that level yet. Intriguing signing and at £3m, a reasonable price tag.

Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window

Frank Lampard had this to say earlier: “Ephron had a bit of a sore groin. I’m not saying I had to play him but he’s our naturally left-sided winger in the team so there are definitely things in and around the scenes where we are slightly that little percent out around the box.” Reading between...

Transfer Rumour Bassette to FC Utrecht

When we were playing 3-4-1-2? I don't think so. Sakamoto was brought in as a RWB who can slot in at AM. Which is why after Sakamoto gets injured post-PNE, we play 3-4-1-2 again quite few times. The recruitment issues haven't moved on from when we played that formation because we don't have...

    The Squad

It's potentially an issue. In reality, Haji needs time to settle in upfront and get a good run of games because last season it was swapping around too often due to injuries to EMC. Which again, highlights a need for wide players if you're playing a formation with wingers, you need a minimum of 4...

    The Squad

If you're going off this highlight reel, most of the highlights he was playing in a 2 striker formation where he had a free role. Particularly the Watford games (home and away) and drove from the right as well as the left - as he did v Sunderland last season. It's worth noting that there In...

    The Squad

Incorrect. I've broken this down elsewhere and he has scored more goals as a striker than LW. We played 3-4-1-2 to start the season and he scored a few goals, had a great start to his new role at LW 4-2-3-1 and this dropped off after NY Day v Boro. Scored 3 goals v Wolves, Leeds & Ipswich and...

    The Squad

Haji is good at working in the spaces, between the lines, from both side. The best example is Sunderland where all of his goals came from picking the ball up in space and cutting inside to shoot/win a penalty. He scored a lot of goals on the cut back centrally. I’m not Lampard nor a mind...
