Do you want to discuss boring politics?

All I know about Argentina is that whoever was in before Milei had run the country into the ground, which is a disgrace when you look at what natural resources they got at their disposal. Whether he can change things for the better longer term, who knows, but something needed to change.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

The whole financial system was about to collapse. The banks don’t have the cash if everyone wants to withdraw their money so there would’ve been civil unrest before the government could’ve got control of the situation senior bankers should’ve punished for what happened though, it was a...

Look into the mismanagement of Birmingham city council and let’s discuss again.

It’s about making sure they’re sustainable and affordable. People just don’t get it. I’d imagine that by the time I’m due to receive it they’ll probably be means testing the state pension yet nobody wants to remove the triple lock ?! It’s madness

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I’ve just explained that councils are paying 25% (BCC apparently 30%+) of council tax revenue* on pensions. Thats before wages, contractors, capital expenditure, social care, property costs etc etc How is this sustainable ? *appreciate there’s other forms of revenue such as business rates

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Fully aware that paying a local government pension would a statutory/contractual obligation (even though the council went bust two years ago which in the real world would’ve changed everything) but the issues I raised could/should’ve been addressed years ago which would have reduced obligations

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I’m pretty sure BCC are still running a defined benefit scheme (schemes considering for 10-15+ years by the private sector as unviable/unfeasible) either way, it’s obviously totally unaffordable. So, services cut, council tax increasing by around 20% in a couple of years and ridiculous amounts...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Been total mismanagement in Birmingham. From ignoring and not addressing equal pay dispute for years, taking on commonwealth games, mismanagement of pension scheme. Should never have gone bust. They’re a joke

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Don’t get me started about Birmingham council, absolute shitshow. Then everyone asked where all the monies going and services are shit….well, 25-30% of council tax revenue goes on council employee pensions (only slightly higher than a lot of other councils) Nothing to see here though. All...

Trump is my favourite comedian of the year already

If they see that as a bigger issue than what happens in their own constituency/country then I personally find that a bit strange. The fact that the MP will then have zero influence on what happens on that issue, makes it even stranger.

I agree. Absolutely bizarre and great answer by Mamdani. But we also had a load of independent MPs running pretty much on purely pro Palestine/Gaza tickets in the general election….and some even winning. Not downplaying the atrocities of what’s happening over there but I’d ask WTF has that got...

    Sheff Utd Player Ratings

Yeah, they do look similar on the pitch as well, fans just assume everything good is Torp, anything bad Eccles ! Had a decent effort first half, lovely lifted ball over the top to wright (offside) and reverse ball to Dasilva when he hit wide but like a few, tidy enough but probably didn’t...

    callum o hare

We’ve won 7 and lost 1 in Rudoni’s absence, scoring 24 goals. If he plays, BTA probably doesn’t and think he’s got 8 in those games. So not sure we’ve particularly needed him ! I do think Ohare would offer us something though, especially off the bench, but he’s better than that. He should be...

I’m not Mystic Meg wingy ! Very hard. Get the impression that markets expect 1-2 more cuts in that time. Depends on inflation and jobs market though

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I think out of control is a little OTT. More that there’s projected significant increases in say welfare and pensions if we remain on the current path, so they just need to show it’s in mind and they will at least try to keep it in check. I also do wonder where it’s all going, although a lot...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Agreed. I don’t think it was her intention to raise main taxes, even if the manifesto promise was ridiculous and unnecessary. Unfortunately certain elements outside her control like higher global bond yields, have been exacerbated by own goals such as increasing emp’ers NIC (which didn’t help...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I Im guessing it was left as late as possible in the hope that bond yields would drop. It was a good move as they have, which should reduce borrowing cost projections. although productivity numbers have also come in lower in the intervening period (obviously bad) I presume these would’ve been...
