Does the new formation change January targets?

People are far too hung up on the fees for EMC & Kitching. Robins' job is to make sure we get as many points as possible. Should he drop Kitching for Lati because he cost £5m? If he plays EMC does he drop Wright, Simms, BTA, or Rudoni - who will then become the £X worth of talent our club is...

Does the new formation change January targets?

On Saturday we played a lopsided 3-5-2 where MvE was more of a RB and Rudoni was more of a LM. Binks constantly came across to cover the LB space and Eccles to cover the RM space. People are worried about the wingers but they showed where they are likely to play. EMC can cover Rudoni (against...

    Luis Binks

Don’t think our squad is disjointed. A lot of teams are now playing with a back 4 with a centre back as a full back that becomes a back 3 in possession anyway. Wouldn’t surprise me if we see Binks at LB in the future to do this as well

Match Thread Middlesbrough - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 2nd Nov

I would start Rudoni at LWB for the next few games. The current successful 3-5-2/3-4-3 teams (Sporting/Leverkusen) play wingers/midfielders in the wing back position, not full-backs, as they can get you up the pitch better. It's not like Dasilva is solid defensively anyway so I don't think it...

    Counter Attack

Do we need to go back to counter-attacking football? 1. We’ve played our best championship football under Robins this way 2. Defence is shite so we need more numbers back 3. Midfield is getting overrun and can’t control a game anyway 4. Forwards are more suited to running into space 5...

Match Thread Coventry City - Swansea City Match Thread - Saturday 21st Sep

We played it for 20 minutes against Norwich and it’s the worst we’ve been this season

    Josh eccles

What I like about Eccles is that he improves a bit every season. Last season the stats show he was an above average championship midfielder but a bit behind the top bracket where Sheaf was. Hopefully he can make that step.

    Concerns over the club's direction......

Every recruitment department has misses. Not every signing can be amazing. We’ve spent £40m and have £50m+ worth of talent in 4 players (Sheaf, Wright, Simms, MvE) plus an entire squad that we’ve not had since promotion to the championship of young players whose values will increase. I’ll...

    Xg table

I’m a big xg advocate but not after 5 games. We’ve yet to play a side who are favourites to be in the top 6 at the end of the season. The next international break is when data will begin to take shape.

    Ephron Mason-Clark

Think he needs to get used to the speed of championship football. Got the ability. A few times has been a split second too late on a shot or cross and defenders have recovered. Would’ve been fine in League 1 but not in this league.

    Concerns over the club's direction......

Brentford finished 5th in 14/15 and proceeded to spend 4 seasons finishing between 9th-11th. On the pitch they seemingly went backwards but they moved forward as a club to create the conditions to build the squad that finished 3rd in the following 2 seasons. Think we’ve maybe got ahead of...

    Transfer Rumour Matty James

Someone needs to show Doug the Brighton squad. Sold young players for incredible profits over the last 3/4 years but have consistently had old experienced heads to help them along. Even on Saturday in the starting lineup they had: Welbeck - 33 Milner - 38 Dunk - 32 James is exactly the type...

    Robins

People mocked him but Mcsheffrey said over the summer that he hopes the new assistants are up to it as it wasn’t great when he played under Robins at Scunthorpe… Robins success has been tied to Adi until this point

Match Thread Coventry City - Norwich City Match Thread - Saturday 31st Aug

They added an extra player in the middle and we couldn’t deal with it again. Same as Stoke and Bristol. Too easy to control games against us at the moment.

    Palmer leaving

The two sub appearances against Bristol demonstrated the value Kasey can bring to the squad as an impact substitute against tired legs. Likewise the game against Oxford demonstrated why he isn’t good enough to be a starter. Not worried about him going to Hull as if that’s going to make them...

    Team Leader?

The Stoke goal and the reaction from the team to going behind, coupled with two sloppy goals conceded against a newly promoted side which nearly cost us, is enough to show that we need a dominant player/organiser/leader in either midfield or central defence.

Match Thread Were the Oxford goals Lucky or calamitous Defending ?

For their second MvE went forward and Torp was covering but let the guy pick his spot. Think he is as culpable as Bidwell - didn’t close down quick enough.

Match Thread Were the Oxford goals Lucky or calamitous Defending ?

Need an experienced centre half for me. We were conceding stupid goals back end of last season when Sheaf was protecting the back line so don’t think that will solve it.

Match Thread Stoke away 10th August 12:30 - Opening day!

Our sole issue is midfield. Yes most didn’t play well but when the system is inefficient it’s hard to play well. The defence had no protection and the attack had nobody linking it because the midfield was overrun. Can’t even really blame Allen too much because he isn’t a 6 This defeat was...
