Match Thread Carlisle United - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 30th Dec

Not overly confident looking at that team Seems lacking a physical edge in midfield / up front. Also, Davies aside, not much height. Hope Carlisle don't have lots of players who are good in the air, we might be in trouble. However, if we actually try to keep the ball down and pass it around...

Match Thread Carlisle United - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 30th Dec

Strange to see McDonald not in the squad though? Perhaps his injury has flared up? Played with an injection to get him through the last game, Football Manager style? Mcdonald's wife/girlfriend is having a baby - so his absence is not due to an injury I think One of you can log in / post faster...

Transfer Rumour Apparently close to signing 2 players

Willis is one of those players we take for granted a bit. Would be a shame to break up a good partnership at the back, but with Tom Davies looking like he should be a regular starter (he is dominant in the air for a start) plus Dom Hyam doing pretty well when called upon, cashing in on him would...

    Biamou

Agreed. We need to keep getting the ball to his feet to get the best out of him. If he avoids injury I think he will score at least a dozen more goals for us this season.

    Biamou

We love to criticise our own players on here! I don't Biamou is a waste of space at all, however I would not have him as a starter after the Jan transfer window. McNulty is showing signs of repaying Robin's faith in him: he is good at getting in snap shots after turning quickly. He could easily...

    FA Cup Draw - Tonight - 7PM

Forest Green Rovers away is what I'd like - such a strange (but lovely) setting for a league ground.

Exactly the side I'd go for, though Robins might give McNulty a run out to build his fitness again... Is Nazon ineligible for this /has he already joined his team on international duty?

Any news on Stokes injury? I'd drop Devon KE to bench, move Duke out wide and bring McNulty back in for this one.

    Player Ratings vs Swindon

Burge 6.5 quiet night Grimmer 5 Like him, but gave ball away a lot Stokes 6 Got skinned a couple of times but generally solid McDonald 7.5 Just puts ball out without fuss if it;s needed Willis 6 Ok but some poor clearances Doyle 7.5 Influential. His age showed as younger players drove past him...

100% agree. Davies is going to be very useful this year against teams who lump it up to the big men up front. Willis should not be an automatic starter in my book. If opposition has a pacy striker, he should play though.

    Brighten up

I find some match ratings of our players on here a bit extreme at times... I think a lot of frustration stems from the fact that we are average (W2 D1 L2) at the moment, but we have the potential to be a lot better than that. Positives from yesterday: Lee Burge saved a free kick brilliantly...

    Late goals

Though I wouldn't have picked McNulty yesterday, he deserves credit for not hiding when things are not going his way... Yes, he is missing relatively easy chances, but he is not shirking responsibility. Having been a striker who must have gone through tough spells himself, Robins seems to...

    Transfer Rumour #CARLBAKERDAY

Am in disbelief about some fans see him as a 'messiah' ... I am not disputing that he is a committed player with a lot of technical ability for L2, but he is well past his best now. I suspect Kenny Jackett moved him into the middle because he was not providing as much of a threat down the...

    Matchday experience

Sadly, I'm with you on that one... I find the experience of going to the Ricoh mind-numbing (especially waiting for a bus back to the centre afterwards by Tesco) I definitely prefer away days by a country mile.
