EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Look it's all banter at the end of the day. Past performance is no guarantee of future successes, however I'd rather play Wycombe than Shrewsbury. Some teams you just tend to get lucky against...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Yup. Basically this seasons playing budget is more than covered. It just depends (1) what contractual obligations we have to pay for players with promotion clauses and (2) how much additional money SISU are prepared to pump in to let MR have a go. On the other hand if other Championship clubs...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

He will not be able to play for BC for the remainder of "this season". Standard loan rules (he would have been able to play if he had returned to BC in January). However I am sure the rules will allow for a return to Cov in the extremely unlikely event that our season gets back underway.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Best case scenario they have playoffs to prepare for. Worst case the season resumes so makes sense that they would return. No team outside of the automatic places overlaps our range. The Championship graph is messed up though because only Fulham overlap WBA and Leeds, so that means playoffs...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

I imagine the Barnsley proposal only matters if the Championship does not conclude and the reality is that (1) too much money at stake for the Championship not to finish and (2) the other 16 teams won't really care to support it and will have the EFL in their ear saying that they must relegate...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Cracking article that spells out the process! Barnsley - I don't think the required 50% of Championship clubs will agree to this one as they intend to resume the season anyway and you would expect the majority of the top half to vote it down and some of the bottom half as well. If it passes...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Tranmere are 3 points adrift with a game in hand. Pretty much any margin of error is going to make it reasonable that they had a chance of staying up. It's pretty obvious they had a reasonable chance without any statistical models. They didn't pick 3 years to keep Tranmere up, they picked it...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Its all a mess. Even with this it is all about self interest and explaining why if a team gets relegated it won't be fair. There is no "fair" solution, just some that are less-fair. It's clear that playing out the games is fairer than PPG and so on... they should just get on with it. When...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

3 options that I can see here. 1. We resume on 23rd/24th June (midweek) for those teams with 10 games to play. Playing 2 games a week takes you to final game weekend of 25th July. Playoffs s/f on 28th & 1st Aug. Possibly that isn't even in line with what the EFL want but pretty close. 2...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

I think the switch was during the Blackpool game where we went 2 down...I agree with you that this season had been the most enjoyable of my time supporting the club - even more enjoyable than the year we only lost 1 game at home in the prem (96/7 I think).

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

We did not have much luck for the first 'half' season of our away games. Bolton, Oxford, Peterborough all games we could easily have won. I think it was just a mental block and once we beat Wycombe that was the monkey off our backs - we really didn't look back.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Yes. And also in addition to getting relegated, you get to go broke and go into administration as well :)

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

How the fk do you have a 7 team playoff for 2 promotion positions... i mean what this does show is what we already knew - Rotherham were not odds-on to get promoted automatically but I can't see this working. There is certainly a reasonable argument to have those 4 teams at the bottom play a...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

I think deluded is the wrong word (although I do think they will vote PPG). 1 win away from autos is not deluded, but they are also 1 loss away from 7th/8th!

He kinda has a point. We are not voting stop because we can't afford it, we are voting stop because it is in our best interests. Oh well, I am sure he won't turn his nose up at the Godden promotion fee.

West Ham have the better home record, and more home games than away games left to play...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

A bunch of teams are going to go on furlough for as long as possible. It may well end up that half the teams in L1 & L2 cannot resume, and we end up with the 24 teams that want to play next season, and the remaining teams will come back as L2. Crazy suggestion I guess, but nothing would...

I think so yes. We won't have budget issues next year unless it is from our own over-extension.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

West Ham & Bournemouth have both played 29 games. They have both played the exact same number of Home (14) and Away games (15). They both have the same number of points, and West Ham have a better goal difference. Under wPPG Bournemouth move above West Ham. So what this means is that wPPG is...
