Let them stay! Ricoh owners hold last-ditch talks with Football League

Round and round we go. If by "ACL forced the whole issue anyway", you mean ACL sought administration then I think Tim Fisher and/or the Sisu's lawyers were driving the timing there: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/mar/11/coventry-city-administration-ricoh-arena

It seems like Nuneaton put up more of a fight, but maybe we're just brilliant and will stroll through League 1 this year. #preseasondreams #dontreallybelievethat

What level do these opposition guys play at, comparatively speaking?

Coventry Cobblers Vs Blades on TV

If we're not playing here in Coventry it could open up a very big market that someone else might want to try to move into. "The Football League will never let them", you cry. Ah, so what would some keen-eyed chairman with no loyalty to the roots of the game do? I dunno, maybe he could...

    Ricoh to pull plug ??????

Didn't PWKH say the other day that ACL own 77% of the joint company that provides food and beverage etc at The Ricoh, with Compass owning the other 23%? So if they "went legal", wouldn't they'd be going legal over 23% of whatever percentage of that part of the Ricoh business came from the...

    Bob Ainsworth speaks out again

Mr Ainsworth's question to Theresa May in Parliament today can be found here, under topical questions: http://www.parliament.uk/business/publications/hansard/commons/todays-commons-debates/read/ I offer no opinion on whether his comments in Parliament are valid or not, nor on the comments of...

    Cobblers fan with questions

I went on The Hotel End around the time the deal was rumoured, but not announced (or struck?) to give some of this background info and suggest for Northampton's sake you might not want to get involved with Sisu, but last week those who posted were told they were trying to "scare" Northampton...

Going down. The almost certain demise of the Sky Blues.

Yes, that was a very interesting detail and it was remiss of me not to commend Squirrel on it. :claping hands: (P.S. Squirrel, I posted the comment on the blog. Nothing appeared, so I'm hoping it is just a case that you have to approve comments.)

I'll give it a go. :) By the way, your blog front page doesn't seem to have updated with some of your more recent posts. Maybe that's just my cache playing funny Marco Boogers though... :thinking about:

And your work added up to an interesting read! I think we are basically in agreement. Right, I'm off to add Soccernomics to my summer reading list...

Going down. The almost certain demise of the Sky Blues.

It doesn't have to be the Moneyball approach per se, that was just an example of using a systemic approach to looking for an edge in other areas, but I think a similar bucking of the trend can be achieved in other ways. I haven't looked at the figures, so I don't know, but I suspect Moyes...

Going down. The almost certain demise of the Sky Blues.

Oh I agree it is unlikely - I'm very tempted to say something about our relegation from the Championship but I don't want to set that hare racing again - and it's just unfortunate timing for making your argument that the last competitive game between two League 1 teams just happened to emphasis...

    Starting season in admin

That is an option I guess. If OSB's guess was right and we don't leave administration until October that would mean 5-7 games would need reversing. That might be manageable I suppose, but if there was no resolution by Christmas things could be getting desperate... And then there is the question...

Going down. The almost certain demise of the Sky Blues.

Another decent read Squirrel but, as I said to you on Twitter, while I agree that the correlation between wages and league position is fairly strong - and therefore a reasonable indicator of likely league position - Yeovil did kind of upset the apple cart this year with their reported £1million...

Let me start a rumor (make that two rumors)

Yes, and add in various interpretations of different rules and other issues (like would will still be under embargo if we are in administration but filed accounts or out of administration but not filed accounts) and the whole situation is as clear as the muddiest mud. I think that is why our...

Let me start a rumor (make that two rumors)

But if - and we now know this is a big if - the Football League were to follow their own rules, wouldn't Otium's accounts have to be signed off before they are granted the Golden Share?

    Starting season in admin

The way this is going I can see us potentially failing to start the season and being kicked out of the league - or playing early games behind closed doors at Ryton just to fulfil the fixtures and avoid that fate.
