But what we now think of as British was once considered foreign. Just over time it becomes assimilated into society and becomes part of Britishness. I doubt even Victorians would think of us as 'British' with our taste in clothes, food, language, manners, vulgarity etc.

I'm the same with the 6 yard box - does it actually perform a function other than for goal kicks? It's not like it's an area no-one other than the keeper can go in. I think paybe a semi-circle between the posts as a 'goalie area' like in ice hockey might be worth a look. I'm trying to think of...

Just been listening to the cricket and I always get annoyed with the batting clique. Always look down on bowlers and laugh at their technique at batting. So I say lets even it up in limited overs - everyone has to bowl as well. Lets all have a good laugh as batsman get smacked around the ground...

I forgot to put something akin to parts iii and iv in especially. Part ii is sort of in place but is never upheld. Needs the sin-bin idea so anyone doing so has a 'cooling off period'. Part i I've no problem with either as it stops people going down feigning injury to timewaste etc.

But what happens with the children of the immigrants born in this country? They will be British, so the percentage of British will increase. Just as many other people in this country have their ancestry from elsewhere but are now English, myself included. In fact a lot of the people you'd...

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

What I said was there is no ambiguity in the statement 'remain in the EU'. Had the statement been "remain and try to get reform" there would have been ambiguity as to what type of reform and what was achievable. But that wasn't the statement so it's not an issue and obtaining reform is a...

Does what he said have a deliberate racist? I've no idea, but you can see why certain people will say it does. I'm taking it as a "London isn't the same city I knew", which is a common thought throughout Britain of the elderly, just as their parents before them didn't either In the future I've...

Of course they'd be campaigning for another vote. Scottish independence vote just two years before Brexit back in the news again and has never really gone away. That was 55-45 for Remain. Do you reckon if they next voted to be independent 51-49 Sturgeon and the like would be saying it wasn't a...

The compromise has to come from within the Leave camp because people weren't sure what they were voting for as the leave campaign was bringing out all the wild theories on what they could get. Hard brexiteers won't go for anything other than no deal, soft Brexiteers won't go for no deal. Had...

Football wise there's a few. 1. Offside is offside. None of this active/inactive bollocks. If a player is on the pitch he's affecting play. A defender lying injured on the goalline will play everyone onside as they're deemed active, so why the hell isn't a forward standing beyond the last...

I think snooker the colours of the balls should be reversed (ie yellow on the black spot, green on pink etc). So you can choose to keep the ball in tight control but score less points or take the risk of going back up the table for more points but maybe running out of position. Plus if you've...

Yes, because I think they do play in the same position. They just take slightly different approaches to it. Both will try and travel with the ball, but Bright does it in in a more explosive (and arguably effective) fashion. Bayliss will also try and play through balls more than Bright does...

Yes please, even though I think it'd be bad for the development of Bayliss.

Maybe they're not caring for it to the same standards we need, but the fact was during those London games at the start of the game the pitch looked in good condition, by the end of it it did not. It wasn't a matter at the end of going around replacing the divots and feeding and watering for a...

2007 Giants game. Was an absolute quagmire by the end. Subsequent years the pitch has cut up quite badly but due to largely being dry it could be pieced back together after quite easily. Rain while they're playing truly wrecks it though and you can feed it, put the lamps on it and all sorts but...

So please explain why exactly the same thing happened ten years before when I went to the NFL game in the rain? No fixture change not allowing preparation, no boxing or other events beforehand......

I was at the NFL game. I watched it becoming more brown and muddy as the game went on. You could see the lines where the players were lining up for the snap, esp around the the goallines. How would the boxing have caused that?
