The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

I'm not arguing that the Scottish independence movement is full of inconsistencies in being anti-UK but wanting to stay in the EU. It wasn't long ago Salmond et al were saying they'd reject the pound and take the Euro. Then the Euro crashed and suddenly they wanted to keep the pound. If after...

They'd desire it but if Westminster took back central control they wouldn't be allowed to - Britain wouldn't let them.

And if it did do that what do you think would happen? If that happened Scottish independent movement would pretty much take over and would spread to wales. With central policy no right to vote for independence in a referendum would lead to direct action and quite possibly a terrorist...

it was facetious comment based on the post I was replying too. The principle is the same. Do English people pay taxes because they want to see the Scots get free prescriptions while they don't? I very much doubt it, but the legal framework that has been set up and agreed to by the member nations...

What is a superfluous job? Let's get rid of football and all sports people - that's superfluous and has no actual use. Same with all fiction writers, TV, theatre, art. Even manual stuff like gardeners are superfluous - we don't NEED to manicure our green spaces and it would be far better...

Money raised in the EU mainly goes to those in the EU. How that money is raised is different but it is done so in a way that those member states have agreed with via a budget. It's the same argument, just changing the scale. And actually, Scots, Welsh and NI get a say in issues that only...

English money gets redistributed to Scotland and Wales. English people don't get a say in how those governments/assemblies spend it. Other UK countries get free prescriptions, England doesn't, despite paying in the most.

UK exists because its member states choose to be part of it and therefore have to pay into it. EU exists because member states choose to be part of it and therefore have to pay into it. If anything UK is less democratic because some of its member states were initially forced into it through...

Actually the manufacturing industry has done that itself by happily moving abroad for cheaper costs and financial help, aided by a British government focusing heavily on a service based and finance economy and not supporting British manufacturing.

Britain(UK) doesn't have any money of its own. It steals it from taxpayers of its member states England, Scotland, Wales and NI.

    'Champions' League Final.

He shouldn't have played from the start after the injury - Moura should've. We've seen consistently at the start of a season he's slow to get into his stride after a break. But Kane is one of the most natural centre forwards out there with an ability in front of goal few can match and you just...

    Universities?

I agree, but sometimes talented kids are given more scope to push themselves although it can't be as good as having someone leadng you at your own pace. My mate was fantastic at maths and could've passed his A level after the first term probably but had to wait for the two year course to take...

    John Cleese

I'm sure there would have been people 1000 years ago who were saying the same thing about Mercia, Anglia, Wessex etc all becoming 'England' with all these different cultures being smashed together into one. And give me dull over fear of foreigners with their different cultures. Without all...

That's not completely true. The Tories are the main reason we're here - they were the ones that wanted the cuts and austerity in the first place. Had it just been Lib Dems do you think they'd have pushed through those cuts? And those cuts may well have been watered down from what the tories...

    Universities?

I had that in the late 90's/early 00's. Basically the school got more funding the more people it got into uni, so would look to find a uni course for everyone regardless of where it was or how relevant. One lad wanted to be a groundskeeper/greenkeeper so the teachers were going through the UCAS...

    Rules you would change

Yep. Mainly for all those scientists/chemists and labs taken up testing athletes rather than finding cures for diseases. Priorities. I was going to suggest maybe they'd have to declare they wre taking them, but then you'd still have to do the testing which negates my point. So do what you like...

    Rules you would change

They did ban allowing people to do somersaults in the long jump. Only reason Fosbury Flop got allowed was because he kept it secret until competition and on the day there was reason in the rulebook they could disqualify him.

Yeah I know, but technically it does still mention Red Bull. Is it a way round advertising bans - just take the company and translate it into another language?

    Bright Enobakhare

No they wouldn't. If they hadn't triggered the extension or offered him a new contract on at least the same wages they get no compensation at all. Otherwise every team would just take on a huge amount of kids and release them so they'd be due compo.

Although when we had that stupid new badge I thought "I can do better than that" so mocked one up. Just changed it to RBesque colouring (lighter sugar free blue though)
