    Things that annoy you

Sorry to hear that mate. Being made redundant is tough at any point but this time of year seems to make it worse, especially when it comes from out of nowhere. Hopefully something turns up pretty soon. No idea what industry you work in but sometimes when a big-ish company goes bust you see a...

Hope they've factored in the impact on the second hand market as the Motability scheme plays a big part in that. Think its, as ever, all a bit misleading and playing to the crowd. You don't just pick a car and get it paid for, you get an allowance. Very few cars fall below that allowance so in...

But then you'd have the equity from the house sale sat in the bank which would be classed as savings which would cause your benefits to be slashed. In theory social housing would work, in reality not so much. Councils publish waiting times for social housing, selling your house would put you...

Not to single you out as there's loads of similar posts but whenever I see things about people happily living on benefits I always wonder how. My GP has suggested to me, on more than one occasion, I take an extended amount of time off work for health reasons. When I look up what I would be...

Complain you can't afford to live in your mansion and drive your fleet of Range Rovers while telling other people they'd be fine if they cancelled Netflix!

Whenever its budget time you get various news sources doing their 'how typical people will be impacted' type pieces. I've already seen one for a couple earning over £100K. Seems way out of touch with the average person struggling to pay their bills.

I'm on the worlds cheapest Sky subscription since they ballsed it up when I moved years ago. I have zero guilty conscience not telling them about that.

Or in my Mums case, sent twice. Fuck knows how they've managed that. Getting hold of an actual person to reverse that seems near impossible. Tempted to tell her to leave it in the bank and wait for them to ask for it after a couple of hours on hold.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Yep, not too much in there really that was unexpected or anything really too controversial. Badenoch looks ridiculous making her response and demanding resignations. I know we've got a pretty low bar for quality of MPs across all parties but surely they can find someone better than her. The...

Thats my gut feeling on it as well. Having said that I do wonder if I was an innocent person looking at sitting in jail for 5 years awaiting trial by jury who was offered a much quicker route to court if I elected to go for a trial without a jury what my response would be.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

It has but while its not really something I've ever given much thought a quick lunchtime google suggests that over those 800+ years what offences are covered by that right to trial have changed on many occasions so I'm not sure that if it gets changing again in the future its quite the 'sky is...

Good to see the deputy speaker giving the government a bollocking over how much of the budget has been in the media in the last few days and weeks (prior to the absolute fuck up by the OBR). Same thing happened with the last government and it really undermines how the process is supposed to work.

That's not what I've said at all. I've said we don't know the details and on the face of it a bad look to be removing the right to trial by jury. If you're spending 5 years inside awaiting trial by jury I can see why, if you were given the option to get to court quicker if it was trial without...

Even going back pre-covid there was a huge backlog. I can recall the Cameron government making changes which had those involved up in arms as they would cause chaos. Of course they were ignored and things appear to have played out pretty much as predicted with covid compounding the problem. At...

The stuff coming out about Farage seems to be more than ‘it was like that back then’. Seems he was telling descendants of Jews who fled Germany that “Hitler was right” and to “gas them”.
