    Take the knee

Because it's done on the whistle it kind of forces everyone to take part and that doesn't make it an effective stance, it feels like an expectation of people rather than an expression of their views and values. It should be done as part of the team line ups or something and down to individual...

    Take the knee

No, it'd remove the ambiguity like we've had with the "all lives matter" nonsense which allows those wanting to discredit it to make out it's saying only black people matter and thus has a further agenda. It's the basis of most legal arguments. You take a statement that seems pretty...

    Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

I like the thinking behind this although the pitfalls within it are clear. If the rate is increasing massively and requires a lockdown earlier than holiday times it's not going to be as effective in keeping things under control. It would probably be a little bit of a help but maybe not long...

    Realistic signings

Although he's been filling in at RWB Burroughs is more of an attacking midfielder in his preferred position.

    Take the knee

This is probably quite a minor point but the capitisation of the words matters to me. Black Lives Matter to me refers to the organisation bearing that name. So the phrase that people can and should get behind is black lives matter, rather than Black Lives Matter.

    Take the knee

Then why not shout Black Parity or Black Equality? It's incredibly clumsy terminology, just like Defund the Police. Don't allow any ambiguity into the message. Unless the ambiguity is put there deliberately to allow the goalposts to move but the message stay the same. You start by saying this...

    Player Ratings via QPR

Seemed very similar to last week to me. Our marking system left someone free at the back, two defenders went for the same ball and left space behind. Shipley was close to his man, it's just debatable as to whether the system had him marking the correct man in the first place. If it doesn't...

    Hamer’s corners

Thank you. I thought it was just me. Macca seemed to just float 95% of his corners to the front post and opposition defences never seemed overly troubled by them much of the time.

    Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

We've no idea how someone who has had Covid will be if they pick up colds and flu over the winter as their lung capacity may have been affected and they struggle to get enough oxygen due to damaged lungs. And that may not be just the vulnerable - plenty of young, healthy people are saying that...

    Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

Indeed. It's an indoor setting where the exertion will lead to heavy breathing and thus a far larger potential range of infection and viral load. But I'd shut them after the pubs because after a few beers inhibitions are gone and distancing etc goes out the window. At least in gyms the...

    Take the knee

On the whole I believe that to be the case. But that doesn't make it the same for everyone. Malcolm X is a big civil rights figure but it's often debated as to whether he was a black supremacist rather than equality advocate. Same with feminism - most want equality but there are definite...

    Whats left then

I think he's fine. Definitely brought in more because he can play with his feet but his all round 'keeping is alright. Only thing thus far is that due to more pressing he's had to go more direct than last year but at least he's shown a willingness to do it whereas last year he could dally on the...

    Whats left then

Dacosta could be out for a while. If Dabo should get injured or having a set back we could have a few months of Pask or similar playing there. Wouldn't want that for more than a few games at most.

    Whats left then

If Max AND Baka were to leave then yes, bringing in one upgrade would be sensible. But I'd be quite happy to keep both if that wasn't possible, Baka has looked more up for it this season and he is willing to chase things down. If he could learn to be more aggressive and use his size more to his...

    Whats left then

If we got the CDM then Shipley becomes available for ACM and he links well with Godden and is a danger around the edge of the 18 yard box, so concentrate on CDM first and the ACM may not be necessary. We've only just signed Hilssner who's supposed to be an ACM/W as well so unless he's really not...

    Realistic signings

Although McCallum is more suited to a WB role than Mason, I wouldn't think it'd be wise to have two loanees for a position. Mason wouldn't be happy to be third choice and so may leave and if Giles/McCallum were recalled in Jan we'd be stuffed. Dunno if MR is banking on Newton progressing enough...

Match Thread Coventry City vs QPR

It would be interesting to see if the nerves from the stands given how that first half went and they took the lead would've affected our ability to get back into it. We seem to have a bunch of lads that have faith in themselves and even the fans are now more akin to thinking we can get back...

    Is another signing really needed?

We should always be looking to see if improvements can be made regardless, provided budget allows. I think our squad will be good enough to be at least reasonably competitive barring a real injury crisis and if we have to go into the season with the squad we have that'll be fine, but if we can...

    GOD

Apart from the ones he doesn't. Missed a chance or two vs Bristol. He had a bit of a reputation before coming here of being a bit 'feast and famine' - would go on amazing purple patches then long droughts. Not saying he's not very good, but let's not get carried away. Before you know it he'll...

Trump is my favourite comedian of the year already

Was thinking that when I heard the news. Been expecting it for a while and hoped she could hang on post election. Given that the Reps blocked Obama's pick last time as he was a 'lame duck' president I'm sure the Dem would hold up any pick of Trump's until post election. The irony that both...
