    the quirke situation

I'll remind you of this when he's demanding £800000 per week or he'll leave our Champions League push and sign for Real Madrid.

    the quirke situation

We haven't given him a new deal yet, which is the main thing. Youth players often get their deals in pre-season.

should we have appointed Andy Thorn?

I think in the world of football management, commitment and foolishness can go hand in hand. When you look at the average tenure of a manager this seems refreshingly sensible to me.

should we have appointed Andy Thorn?

If you don't hire good people with the fear that they'll fail, I don't really see the alternative.

    Osama go bye bye :)

When Osama died, the US president would get a boost. If he were dead years ago, that would mean a Republican cabinet has stepped aside and allowed a Democrat president to now get the kudos. That would be the most unlikely scenario of all for me.

    Westy, King and Gunnar

The only thing worse than someone claiming to have sources is to then weakly threaten to withdraw the information when rightly questioned about them.

    Conor Thomas

In much the same way as most football fans don't understand finance.

Westwood to Villa and Brad Freidel to us?

He could easily go for a few more years in the MLS if he felt homesick. Look at Kasey Keller.

    Westy, King and Gunnar

Between someone giving us a scoop from an unnamed source and CCFCBen telling us 'Hi I'm on the board', we've really got some insiders here haven't we? Yours, Steve Harrison.

    Conor Thomas

The deal would be worth £1.5m is the story, not that Thomas would have been bought for £1.5m. It's whatever his fee is plus the exorbitant agent fee.

    Injury dilemma

If someone's likely to be in the squad soon, that's news enough. If there's no end in sight like for the four years Isaac Osbourne's been out, there seems little point as there's no new information. The specifics of the injury are similar, unless some fans are physiotherapy students.

    Injury dilemma

Why would it be 'acceptable' if we were given injury details we don't understand and have no benefit knowing, as well as return estimates (because that's all they can ever be) that inevitably end up wrong, causing the same people demanding the information to then complain that it wasn't accurate?

    Potential replacements for Marlon

He's about five years younger than Marlon.

    Osama go bye bye :)

I'm not sure we're particularly at any more or less risk of attack to be honest, such threats have always existed and probably always will.

    Toilets at Ricoh

Yeah, because there's a limited quota to threads and the existence of this thread prevents people talking about the more pressing issues going on like... erm...

    Osama go bye bye :)

It's a nice moment for those directly affected by 9/11 and so on, but it changes little really. It's not as if Al-Qaeda and the many affiliates will disband now.

Are you (or have you) renewing your Season Ticket?

I can afford it, but I'm happy to pay the interest for the convenience. Plus I've cut my credit card up and it only exists as a reducing debt so that's not really an option.
