    Why no minutes silence?

I get all that, but a lot of the overdone reaction to it seems to be less about the occasion which is what I have an issue with. I suspect people are latching onto what should be a dignified occasion for a rant.

    Why no minutes silence?

As mentioned, they had the poppy on the pitch before the game, and they may do something around the actual time. There wasn't a silence, that's all. It's surprising, but not cause to froth at the mouth and cry blue murder, unless you really want to.

    Why no minutes silence?

That's fine, but don't make out it's some kind of appalling disgrace if Remembrance Day isn't marked on the 6th before a league game against Southampton.

    Why no minutes silence?

What does the last game beforehand have to do with it? It's almost a week away, if you're looking to a frivolous sporting occasion for your show of respect you're in trouble.

    Why no minutes silence?

Since when did Remembrance Day become Remembrance Month? It's a dignified occasion that doesn't need every football match leading up to it to mark it, and certainly doesn't need to be used as a crutch to beat the club with. Look at the story about the England game; what's actually a general...

On the subject of embarresing songs....

'Who are ya?' is the pits. When you come from behind to equalise against a better team, you don't sing that with 20 mins still to go.

    Cov Telegraph Censorship?

There were one or two posts on here accusing them of being crooks yesterday that I thought were on slightly dodgy ground too.

    A worry if true

Although I'm not questioning the trustiness of your friend, everyone has reason to lie. Mainly due to how fun it can be, but that's just me.

    Record Under Thorn

I like Thorn, but even fighting against the financial side he can't be entirely blameless forever. This is still a team he's guided into winning positions which have been needlessly thrown away, so I don't buy the argument that no manager could do better. Is it possible that a man not properly...

Once Again, the Inevitable Football League Show Thread...

Roland Nilsson should have stopped Fox getting that cross in.

    Clingan

That was definitely Willis wasn't it? I keep making jokes about how tanned Thomas is, but the Beeb have taken it a bit literally there.

    Clingan

The two scenarios are miles apart and you know it, or at least I'd hope you do. I can only hope you're doing this deliberately and are not actually this dim.

    Clingan

Ok, but first I'm keen to hear your thoughts on Clingan lacking the motivation to train properly and keep himself in shape, being sent off to a glorified fat camp in order to get into shape, failing and also throwing a tantrum when told he wasn't going to play. What's that now?

    Clingan

Again, you're confusing general criticism with criticism based on a hypothetical exit. Every player can be criticised, but for things that actually happen, not the chance they might leave at some point. People are talking about how Juke might leave in January, but it's not a reason to slag him...

    Clingan

You led with 'the squad know the captain will be off' and used that as a launching pad to criticise him. Complete guesswork. Not signing a new contract isn't a valid criticism until the negotiation is finalised one way or the other, as you have no possible idea what has gone on. Therefore...

    Clingan

Sure, if you can show me where people are criticising these players for leaving the club. You seem to misunderstand that it's not complaints about players, it's complaints that make no sense. Clingan hasn't renewed YET. He may not do so at all, but until that's confirmed it's not a stick he can...

    Clingan

Another important fact: Sammy Clingan is a Coventry City player. Until that is no longer fact, you have no cause to criticise him for commitment. Or do you have some insider scoop as to any contract dealings? If so, spill.

    Clingan

The only fact is that his contract expires at the end of the season. Until he actually leaves, all you are doing is guessing, apparently based on a dislike of Clingan if recent posts in this and the Willis thread are any indication. At a time when supporting the side is paramount, you're...
