This team will be better than the 22/23 team

Left of centre is very different to left wing.

    Value in our squad

Thomas is a bit of a throwback defender. I don’t mind that, gets his head on everything etc. But it also has risks like yesterday. Kitching is quite a long way ahead for me. But having said that I think he’s quite a special player.

OK, so flip it round. The logic of what you are saying is that you can do anything in the tackle as long as you’ve touched the ball first. You can’t. 20 years ago - yes. Now - no. The players know that.

Can we end the notion that Wright has been playing “wide left” or as a “left winger”. He’s playing centre forward. It’s like saying Kitching is playing left back.

What does this club mean to you?

First game was late 70’s. Used to love going to the Reserves all through the 80’s and 90’s for a chance to sit in The Main Stand. Had over 30 years of season tickets covering the CBS, West Stand and Terrace, Kop and then East Stand. West Stand was the best view of the lot.

“Celebrated like it was their cup final”

The celebrations are great. Anything diminishing that from a losing opponent is just bitterness.

Think about someone like Lloyd McGrath. How whole career built around tackling. Good, hard, legal tackling. If he comes along nowadays he simply doesn’t have a career. It’s a block, jockey and head game for defenders now. You just can’t risk tackling. Look no further than the Leicester pen today...

    Sheaf

Sheaf is consistently brilliant. We have lots of important players but he is the one we rely on most heavily.

    Milan

Absolute steal. Massive potential and he is blessed with that absolute priceless asset - pace to burn.

Palmers problem today was twofold. He made quite a few poor decisions in terms of pass or carry on dribbling and also the critical touch in a lot of his involvement was heavy. It led to him getting frustrated for his yellow. He is a threat but the end product needs to improve a % or two.

    Value in our squad

No reason why you wouldn’t get £3m+ for Eccles

When you make a tackle it’s all split second stuff but you do have time to make a decision. You can crash through the player or curtail it a bit. Nowadays you have to go for the latter. Thomas chose the former. Go back 30 years and there’s not even a question and it’s a great tackle. But, like...

    Limousine for Robins

He’s got to be close to being our best ever manager. Sillett had silverware, Milne had a good stint and Strachan took us on some memorable runs in the top flight but Robins has contended with some unthinkable nonsense.

This team will be better than the 22/23 team

I completely agree we’ve upgraded in lots of positions both in what you’d call starters and depth. We’re certainly better at RB and CB in terms of Kitching who is pure class. I think you have to aggregate “attack” and I’d say Sakamoto, Wright and Simms equal Gyokeres and Hamer. But then you have...

    Callum contract offer

I think he’s already been made a good offer. But he’s hanging on for summer I’d say.

They’ve not taken it too well have they. Enzo Maringpiece, Dewsbury-Balls and Fout Wails. Shame

Agree with most at 7 or 8 with Sheaf and Van Ewijk 9’s. The player that made a huge difference for me was Allen. Perfect for what we needed at that point.

Both just about right for me. Thomas yellow only as he did get the ball but the follow through wasn’t needed. Red , just about and that was for them so who cares. Palmer should have been hooked off earlier as he was a red waiting to happen.
