Was Roland Nilsson our best ever Right Back ?

All time top 11 is difficult. Started going up late 70’s so a big chunk was in different leagues. But just on quality alone mine would have to be: Ogrizovic Nilsson Peake Babb Pearce Bennett McAllister Robson Gallacher (wrong wing I know) Regis Dublin

    Summer transfer window 2024

Well we’ve had him in our team for the last two years and been in and around top 6. He’s part of a squad. He will start now and again.

    Summer transfer window 2024

Crikey, Allen is taking some stick here. He’s a perfectly good championship midfielder.

So: Wright for EMC Kitching for Thomas Eccles for Allen ??

Understood. I’ve now gone from not panicking to not panicking.

    Summer transfer window 2024

To be frank this is getting ludicrous. The window is still open. The loan window longer still. Sheaf is still here. We were pushing for play offs last year and have strengthened the squad. There is obviously activity going on at the club. Why are we so desperate for instant news and activity.

Yes, Nilsson and Borrows for me. Thomas also up there.

No one is hating Palmer or bashing him. The consensus amongst those on the negative side with him is that his decision making needs to be better. It’s just an improvement he could make, it’s not apocalyptic criticism.

    Hamer replacement

You could just as easily say we’ve never replaced Dion Dublin. There is no linear identikit squad profile that you have to adhere to. Hamer left. We’ve since bought new signings in. The squad evolves.

Debunking the myth - ‘Doug isn’t getting the commercial things right’

I think he’s done very well. But could do better. There’s always room for improvement.

Oh no, not stats. What we’re talking about is key passes. The ones where we have promising forward situations when he tries the ridiculous rather than the simple. A prime example last night when we broke and Sakamoto was completely free but Palmer tried to thread the needle to Simms. Attack...

Not for me. We were actually turning it round before the subs last night. Wright is our most effective forward in terms of all round contribution. We need as many minutes on the pitch from him as possible

When it’s the right pass - maybe. But he only makes the right choice of pass 50% of the time. It’s why he’s so frustrating.

Dasilva always looks ok when he doesn’t need to do a lot of defending. Bristol were shocking tonight. Bidwell is a better option all round. Although at least Dasilva looked tidy enough on the ball.

The guy is a CF. He’s not getting any game time there any time soon though and he’s no right winger.

I thought he was. Certainly for someone in the centre of things. He looks ponderous when on the ball for me. Too slow of thought.

Agree. Torp has been awful so far. At least Allen is involved.

Got to be Wright Simms Saka on Friday with midfield of Eccles, Allen, Rudoni. For me Torp has been 100% anonymous in both games so far.

As a complete aside I need to know which of the coaching staff is responsible for insisting on the apparently compulsory trot out weaving between four discs at the start of the second half.
