Tactical Analysis - CCFC Vs Norwich

I don’t think Norwich dominated the game. They certainly didn’t have chance after chance and I thought we looked comfortable at the back. But equally I thought we snatched at things first half and as a result heads went down in the 2nd and our subs were poor and seemed just designed to get some...

    Rudoni …?

It’s obvious Rudoni has a good footballing brain and can be that creative force for us. I also think he’ll start weighing in with goals. He’s part of a system that’s not clicking at the minute and is suffering along with a few others.

It’s a ridiculous point. Firstly, it’s patently obvious we tried to sign a midfielder in the Sheaf mode. We couldn’t get one. I’m not sure why that’s quite so difficult to comprehend. And secondly we’ve had to invest elsewhere and have done. Thirdly, we’re not dependent on Sheaf, we’re just...

    The 5 year plan

King has a quandary. If he wants the tools to get promoted he needs to break the wage structure. You need a miracle to get promoted with a £20k salary per player cap. That’s the tension. Do we go for it and overstretch the finances and all that brings or do we hope for that miracle season where...

    Bassette

His attitude looks spot on. But in reality there’s no way he gets in ahead of Simms at the moment. Hope he becomes a gem but I was amazed at the analysis of him from the Oxford game. He ran about a lot but to start ascribing mini Vic comparisons is crazy.

    Robins

Interested to hear where people think our recruitment has been poor. A midfielder would have been nice but the only one with a question mark for me is Torp. That’s not a bad hit rate when over the last three windows we’ve added Dovin, Van Ewijk, Thomas, Kitching, Lats, Dasilva, Rudoni, Wright...

    In Defence

Agreed. But time is a factor. £4m today is £2m 2-3 years ago and will be £6m in another 2-3.

    Sheffield Utd

O’Hare will tear it up for 9-10 games at Utd and then fade or there will be an issue. The biggest indicator as to his talent is where he’s ended up.

    Rudoni …?

The system for me is less of an issue than the lack of intensity. In the Stoke and Norwich games we’ve strolled about. I’d stay with 4 at the back as we’re not conceding many goals but I would be tempted to try Wright through the middle flanked by Emc and Bta. Lots of pace there and in preferred...

    Sheffield Utd

I’m hopeful we’ve unearthed one with Bassette. Emc needs a goal or a performance of consequence and he may just take off. Dovin has the stamp of a good keeper for me and Rudoni will turn out to be a great piece of business. Yet to see it with Torp but hopefully from our most recent crop there...

    Rudoni …?

Agree with that. I think he’s trying to keep too many happy. I’d never have taken Simms and Wright off so early v Norwich and when subs did come on they were square pegs in round holes.

It’s not a lot of money nowadays though and the £4m is largely a figure established on here. I may be proved wrong but I do think in time at least two of them will massively increase in value (Kitching and Rudoni).

    Rudoni …?

Has massive potential for me. A real coup when we got him. Needs time but I think will prove to be a great player for us.

    Sheffield Utd

For every Hilsner you get a Wright. For every Walker a Simms. Or a Van Ewijk. Or a Sakamoto. Depends which narrative you want to serve.

Judgment already passed on emc and Rudoni then. At least you gave them 4 games.

Too many COOKS spoil the broth

Enlighten me then. What does each of them do?

    In Defence

Thomas and Kitching are our best defensive pairing but Thomas distribution has been lacking. There seems to be a school of thought that is anti Kitching but for me he’s a nailed on starter.

Too many COOKS spoil the broth

We’ve no idea what the new coaches are adding or otherwise. Why pretend otherwise

    Early days but basics lacking

I am baffled by the obsession of playing centre halves in pairings based on being left or right footed. At CH is doesn’t matter. You never hear it with CM’s. For me our strongest CB pairing is Binks and Kitching.

    Summer transfer window 2024

As well as sell on values of talent we have we also still have Gyokeres and Hamer sell ons in the background. But the question stands - if you aren’t going to break wage structures the amount of cash you have is less of a factor
