Match Thread Coventry City - Millwall FC Match Thread - Sunday 29th Dec

Presumably that will have to be in the first 15 minutes before his hamstrings disintegrate and his knees explode from the sheer physical onslaught of playing in the championship?

    Expected Goals Against

You're letting the perfect be the enemy of the good. "There's only 1 stat that matters and that's the score" - for determining the result yes, for analysing performance, no. Anyone who knows football will realise it's massively affected by variance. You can easily be the better team and end up...

    Expected Goals Against

Was talking about the first half. The point is, if you look at the shots we took critically you would not expect us to score 4 goals. Sakamoto's - decent chance but gets scored less often than you'd think, and arguably should have been saved. Eccles 1st - shot from 20 yards, rarely goes in. EMC...

    Expected Goals Against

lol Yesterday was a very good example of why it's not nonsense. First half, we had 4 shots on target and scored 4 goals, that doesn't happen very often. A combination of good finishing and poor keeping caused that. If you replay that first half over and over most of the time we would not score...

    Expected Goals Against

Well having had some truly shocking keeper performances explains a lot of it. And anecdotally we’ve spent a lot of time behind in games where the oppo are likely to sit back more. But 5th vs 18th is still an insane difference to me.

    Expected Goals Against

Would anyone like to guess where we rank in the expected goals against (xGA) table? For reference, we have currently conceded 34 which puts us 18th in the actual goals against table (where lower = more conceded). Answer:

    Transfer Rumour January transfer window

Ideal window right now OUT Tavares - Permanent, see if we can get a nominal fee Allen - Permanent, bottom of the pecking order, would be a good pickup for a L1 side, could generate a small fee Kitching - loan, IF Lampard isn't gonna use him then try and loan him out somewhere to get minutes...

    Liam Kitching

That's from the Cov Tel article on the deal. To me that suggests the up front figure would've been in the £3.5-4m region.

If EMC is injured (really hope not) I would be tempted to try Bassette on the left with Simms through the middle.

    Mason-Clark Appreciation Thread

Harsh to drop a striker with 2 goals in 13 games give me strength. I like the guy but the love in he’s getting is a tad weird.

Match Thread Coventry City - Millwall FC Match Thread - Sunday 29th Dec

Shocked me yesterday to see that we're only 2 points behind them. I thought they were having a decent season and us a poor one.

Start Simms. Torp could come in to freshen up the midfield, maybe for Rudoni. I'd start Kitching over Lati (but you already know that). We've had a few false dawns already this season, a win in this one and at Cardiff and we might be on to something.

Think everyone agrees it's >£4m? I actually think Kitching deserves more minutes, but if someone is going to give us £4m back I'd snap their hand off.

In January? I'd be absolutely shocked if we got even half what we paid. Surely not?

He really isn't, some of his stats might look better because he plays so conservatively but look at something like progressive passes and you'll see Thomas is better. Thomas does make more errors, but only because he's trying to do more with the ball.

Main moments I remember from him in the game was passing it to their winger 2nd half and constantly failing to progress the ball even when he had space and time to do so. He could well be our best actual defender but unless he somehow gets quicker, taller and better on the ball I don't want him...
